Well I am comparing it to a vent but ,to me the vent sounds like a real leslie. Yes I have experimented with the balance of the C2ds leslie sim and the closed 122 version. The closed version sounds more like a throbbing sort of sound to me. Maybe its because I have been using a vent for a year now and its spoiled meflmc59 wrote:How did you set up the balance between top rotor bottom rotor?
Are you using the first or second 122 simulation(122 or 122close)
Realistic compared to what?
The Vent
A 122
A 145 etc
The 122 imo is quite close in sound to how a145/122 sounds i a room. I have compared a/b to my 145 in my living room wit the leslie about 1 meter away from me.
A close miked leslie gives two pulses per revolution. If you mike 90 deg apart the pulses come at an uneven rate.
The close miked sound has it own chracter compared to what you hear in a room with just your ears a meter or two from the Leslie. The then you get a very even vibrato sound with an high amount of reflected sounds.

Sorry about my delayed reply.dazzjazz wrote:Which speaker are you using with your C2D?
Some powered speakers really emphasize a frequency band that is not flattering to any clone or sim.
This is especially true of EONs and to a lesser extent, the QSC range. This is not to say that they're bad speakers, as they're not.
Darren
I have tried using Yamaha Msr 100 (L and R) which I use for small gigs. In the house though I go through an edirol mixer to a pair of Wilson Puppies driven by a Naim power amp. It's definately the leslie sim that's not right.

Re: NORD C2D Rotary Simulation not happy
I often think of leslie sims as being a bit like alcohol free beer . Some are more convincing than others. The vent is a bitburger and the new Nord is definatelyrb4u1 wrote:I am curious as to a comparison of the Nord leslie, and the Strymon, and the Vent. I have he Jbl Eon g2 and the Qsc that I use with an E3.
The JBl is definitely difficult to tame the top end. The Qsc is not quite as difficult but still a little over the top.
Barbican at the moment.
I hope somebody does do a comparison.
I repeat though that I am happy with the new Nord in every other way, and for the price, I should not complain too much about the sim I suppose.
Once I get the lex, the problem will be fixed. ( I hope)

NORD C2D Rotary Simulation not happy
A real Leslie in a room sound very different from a real Leslie close miked. The sims are emulating the more or less close miked sound.
The Nord 122 when played in my PA sound not to far from my 145 in the room. The Nord 122 is a tad more horn sounding.
But two Lelslies can sound quite different if they are stock or modded.
I really need to get my hands on a vent to test this machine
Anyone tested the Behringer rm600?
One thing I line about the VB3 is that you can have both reverb and room ambience.
All sims modulate too much compared to a leslie in room.
The amplitude mod is exagerrated when you close mike.
Most sims overdo the parametric combfiltering to.
All the above i.m.o.
But then again all sims try to sound like a miked Leslie.

Re: NORD C2D Rotary Simulation not happy
I have the Boss RT-20 but haven't use it in ages, but IIRC the problem was the overdrive. Turning the OD knob just a little, it added so much distorsion that was unusuable. It seems the pedal was mostly for guitar players....
