Of course you can - you just have to rename the file extension to ".zip" since these files are in fact "hidden" zip files. I just did it with the factory restore file for the Grand 2, renamed it from "Nord Grand Factory Restore v1.08 Rev E.ng2b" to "Nord Grand Factory Restore v1.08 Rev E.zip" and then unzipped it

Hot diggity, you are right! Thank you. I think I knew that once upon a time...memory not what it used to be
I have removed or modified my erroneous statements about the Factory restore file. Not because I'm censoring my blunders (then I'd have to remove everything I post), but so false information doesn't confuse new readers. I also updated the Piano Loads chart
(THANKS TO FZIEGLER FOR THE MODEL INFO):

Looking at that chart, a few observations about factory loads:
--The gang at Nord decided to fully bail on the Italian Grand and Grand Lady D after 2017. They haven't been factory-loaded on a keyboard since.
--They also said goodbye forever to the Queen, Blue Swede, and Rain Uprights at the same time.
--The Bright and Silver Grands looked like they were getting nuked after 2017 too...but then both made a comeback in 2019. The Silver just fell off again in 2024.
--The Imperial Grand had been gone for some time but was restored in 2017 and has been present ever since.
--The Romantic Upright has the most random appearance rate. Maybe it will be loaded, maybe it won't.
--The Grand, Honky and Saloon uprights appear to be next on the list for never coming back.
--The Mozart Fortepiano had the briefest time in the limelight, being loaded on only two keyboards.

The list (Chart) is definitely great and helpful !
As I am a owner of the NP5, I noticed that the chart of samples are different.
With the latest Rev. F factory file the NP5 have the same Grand and Upright Samples stored like the Stage 4.

You can also download the Factory Restore file, rename its extension to .zip, extract the contents, and get/view the individual samples that way, although that is a tedious and roundabout way to get at the individual samples.
Unfortunately after I have changed the extension of the file on my MAC and tried to unzip, following error are shown:
" The file could not be unpacked. "ERROR 79, file format is invalid "

If Mac OS cannot unzip it, you need to use iZip or Unarchiver
