Hello again.
I have now received feedback from Clavia regarding the problem.
They have not yet succeeded in recreating the phenomenon in their studio, but our dialogue continues.

For your information I have linked to this thread, so they can read and share your experiences and variations on my original post.

I'll update the thread as soon as I get a response from Clavia's support.

If I go through the steps and control my NW2 it works as it should. No hanging notes. But if I do exactly the same with my Roland Jupiter XM the note hangs.
I used to control the Jupiter XM from my NS2EX without any hanging notes, so I would expect no problems with the NS4. I even changed midi settings on the Jupiter XM, but the problem stays.

Thank you for confirming, missoundscape!

I have the same problem controlling a Moog Minitaur from the NS4.

I can reproduce this every time by holding the sustain pedal and then playing the same note twice; after the second touch, the note no longer releases.

If anyone at Clavia wants to get in touch with me for help reproducing the bug please feel free!

Hello forum!

I have now received a response from Clavia regarding the bug in NS4 and would like to share it with you.

On earlier NS models, a "Note off" is sent each time a single key is released. On the NS4, however, no "Note off"s are sent when the keys are released if the sustain pedal is pressed at the same time. In practice, this means that several "Note on"s can then be sent while the sustain pedal is pressed, but only one "Note off" when the pedal is released.

Obviously, it is handled differently by different receivers of MIDI, as confirmed by the rest of you who replied in this thread. For example missoundscape wrote that his/her Nord Wave 2 did not cause any problems while the Roland Jupiter did. The result is that notes hang.

Clavia advised that they will most likely change this, so that it sends "Note off" as soon as the key is released (the way it works on the global channel). Hopefully it will be incorporated before the next update of the operating system.

Thank you to all of you who contributed with your experiences and who thereby helped to derive the error!

Thanks for all your help with this, and well done Clavia for figuring it out. Since I can't actually use the Nord to play a gig until this is fixed I too hope they release a hotfix before the next major update!

Thank you so much for your efforts. My live setup is "on hold" as well until this is fixed.

Don't worry. It's fixed on the latest beta version. Probably within next week it will come to public release.

That's great news :) Is there some way I can get hold of beta firmware, or do we have to wait for the release?
