Yes, in addition to correct height and angle, my setup includes isolation pads, setting boundary EQ and high frequency Trim (the JBLs have switches on the back), a Key Largo mixer with XLR out to the monitors, and I get full, detailed, clean sound and stereo imaging even though the back corners of the monitors are only 2 inches from the wall.dansnord wrote:By "set up correctly" are we basically talking about angle towards listener, height, and considerations of back wall, etc?
After even more reading tonight, I had kind of settled on buying the T5V. I tend to like treble (likely because my older ears can't hear it as well!) and they seem to do better in the high end (as well as the bass, from what I've read.) The JBLs also get lots of talk, but it feels like for the extra $100 for the pair of T5Vs, it's worth it. And at the same time, the much more high end monitors do not seem to be worth it unless you get much higher in price. I do wish I had a better sound image in my head of what "incrementally better sound" really would mean. I did just drop nearly $5,000 on my NS3 setup. Does it make sense to play them back through $200 speakers? Decisions....
