Eriknie wrote:Nice, I one replaced a none weighted keyboard in a Kurzweil PC3 with a weighted 76 keyboard from a Studiologic midicontroller. Lot's of work, but in the end a Unique Kurzweil.
In the end it is a matter of trust and endurance.
I always like these modifications!
Wow, all Kudos to you man!
I can see more clearly now, lot of competitions in this forum!

PianoLuminescent, that’s one awesome mod! Nerves of steel, too.

You mentioned reducing the weight… have you put it on a scale, to note the weight difference?

And I presume the final size was some multiple of the key sensors, which are grouped together? You just removed the outer modules?

Yes, I cut down the 88 keys to 61 keys. With a dremel cutting discs, I cut down the keybed metal frame and keys contacts board.
And use a electric Jig Saw to cut the piano exterior frame.
Didn't you also have to resolder some circuit tracks on the key contacts board, after cutting?

I can see, I have an experience guy here. Well you are right, the first board I cut, I cut to much!, so I have to resolder one resistor line. The rest was a piece of cake.

They are 3 Key sensors Board connect together, so I have to cut the left and the right boards.

88 Keys Weights: 40.1 Lbs (18.5 kg)
61 Keys Weights: 31 Lbs (14.1kg)

88 Keys Dimension: 50.7" (128.7 cm)
61 Keys Dimension: 35.8" (91 cm)

I’m actually on my way to check out his keyboard. If all is in working condition, I’m buying it today!

So here is the story. I own a Nord Piano 2 and enjoyed it however unable to upgrade to White Grand and the Soft Piano sounds that came out 2023-2024 because the OS is too old. Then I found this Nord Piano 4 with 61 keys. I reached out to Pierre and made the appointment to see his piano 4. On that day I was searching for a Notd Piano 4 61 keys but came up empty. I was curious why it was so cheap? Only the 88 key version existed. Then found this forum! I was so impressed with Pierre’s work of cutting a 88 key to a 61, I bought it off him and in the process of setting up. It was meant to be. Now I use it as a slave to play with upgraded new piano sounds. More to come! Stay tuned.
