Any experiences with QSC CP8 for NordStage(2)?
Re: Any experiences with QSC CP8 for NordStage(2)?
I have both CP8/K8.2 If you keep the volume down on the CP8 it sounds very similar to the K8.2
Biggest difference K8.2 has much more headroom. Anything over 95dB CP8 starts to sound harsh/brittle. Get them!

I have a pair of K8.2s in my man-cave.Rusty Mike wrote:Regarding fan noise, I do not ever recall them being an issue, either on stage or in the studio.
The fan noise from the speakers doesn't bother me much, but when they stop I become very aware of the noise.
Because of this I'm considering buying a pair of CP8 or CP12 just to get a slightly more silent environment.

My band has a pair of K10s as stage monitors, and this is how I feel.catosim wrote:The fan noise from the speakers doesn't bother me much, but when they stop I become very aware of the noise.

I haven't tried a CP8. But I've used the QSC K8.2, the Behringer B210D, and the EV ZXa1, and I think the K8.2 and ZXa1 are both strong choices... and at least on paper, the ZXa1 may meet your needs better than the CP8. Similarly, it has no fan, no display, and is a lot less expensive than the K8.2, and although it's not quite as inexpensive as the CP8, it has advantages of a bit more max volume, a bit more bass response, and lighter travel weight. If you want something lower priced, the Alto TS308 is a surprisingly good speaker for the price that will also sound better than the B210D.

As I want to use the speakers for rehearsals that are not too loud, I will definitely take some without a fan after your feedback. For somewhat higher volumes, e.g. at gigs, 2 speakers with 500W RMS each should still be enough without distorting.
If it gets any louder, I'll definitely be back to InEars.
The Alto TS308 are an interesting offer, but in Germany they are only 115€ away from the CP8 - then I'd rather go for the QSC.
The EV ZXA1 also seem to be an interesting alternative, even though they don't have a contour selector like the CP8.

I have EV ZX5s for my “mains” in my music room and they’re great as well, but just for keys the CP8 or 12 should be more than enough.tommes wrote:As I want to use the speakers for rehearsals that are not too loud, I will definitely take some without a fan after your feedback. Re: Any experiences with QSC CP8 for NordStage(2)?
Hello all,
thanks for all your answers and tips about the QSC CP8!
I bought them the week before last and yesterday I had them with me for the first time at a rehearsal.
For me they fit perfectly, small and handy, enough power for my purposes and an excellent sound - dreamlike.
I have placed them behind my head on the right and left side and I experience a fantastic stereo sound. I can absolutely recommend them if you don't need the 1000W of the K8.2 and don't want to have speakers with a fan.
Many greetings

In what situation would the 1000W be needed? Would it be needed in a band, indoor, and medium size setting? Also, is the fan very annoying like loud or what?tommes wrote:Hello all,

Note that that wattage is peak, not continuous. The CP8 and CP12 are also 1000WWinds wrote:In what situation would the 1000W be needed? Would it be needed in a band, indoor, and medium size setting? Also, is the fan very annoying like loud or what?tommes wrote:Hello all,

The K8.2 spec is 2000W, CP8 is 1000W. Neither of those numbers really mean anything, but the K8.2 does have more power.
