I spent a while trying to get satisfying horns out of my Nord. Then I tried other keyboards. Finally, I achieved near-nirvana on an iPad using the SWAM software instruments, which unfortunately was unplayable live. So it is achievable -- but you can't really use it.
Instead, I decided to move in another direction: coming up with horn-like layered sounds that were useful and interesting, but weren't trying to be fake horns. For example, combining a synth horn and a sampled horn doesn't sound like either. If you're looking for that big sound, try one of the pipe organs behind whatever horns you find.
It may not sound "just like the record", but it certainly keeps things more interesting. Besides, I'm usually playing material that was written a long time ago, and could use some updating.

right, sometimes I may want it to sound like original, sometimes I make it my own; and I also add pipes. My favorite synths are the saws!

I am also adding pipe organs behind horns. So far, the supernatural technologies in Roland keyboards were among the best horns I've heard, but again, far from the 'real thing'
