We’ll see sooner or later - let’s take pot luck ….

Probably the new format will have additional data fields (in the header/parameters section of the file) to hold information used by the new Vibrato, Unison and Round-robin algorithms implemented in the updated Nord Sample engine, I presume. Point will then be to see which of the existing models supporting the v3 will get also the OS updates required to implement the v4 features (besides the NP5 which apparently supports the v4 natively).Mr_-G- wrote:Seems like those "features" (vibrato, delay, unison) are already accessible from the panel (look at the photo in the Nord site).
What would be stored in the sample format? Is the new format a mixture of nsmp and and ns3f and ns3p?
I see no reason why it shouldn't, NSM has just been updated to "support NP5" and I bet it includes also the conversion of older .nsmp formats (just as it happened with NS3 and the likes after .nsmp v3 was introduced)WannitBBBad wrote:Regarding the Stage 3 getting an upgrade, I would feel a little better if it was clear that the new Nord Piano 5 can also play NSMP and NSMP3 files.
Yes, that makes sense. The format shouldn't matter as long as the NSMP and NSMP3 can be converted to the NSMP4 by the Nord Sound Manager when downliading to the keyboard. Thanks FZiegler.FZiegler wrote:If it'll be the same as with the NS3, the NP5 won't be able to play NSMP or NSMP3, but the Sound Manager would convert everything into the needed format. Which should be OK for you, WannitBBBad, right?
