I own one of the early NS3Cs, and recently a new one from mid 2021. Other than minor mechanical differences, they are identical instruments.
I think I have gear issues ....

Hello there, everyone! I'm enjoying researching the Stage 3 and find this forum and all you nice people to be a wonderful resource. So here's my first question on the forum: Does anyone know if this revision information is printed on the outside of the box that the Stage 3 is shipped in? I'd like to be able to ask whichever place I buy it from to check that it is indeed the latest version (without them having to open up the box and ruin the brand-new buying experience for somebody else) if it's not the newest.
I only want the latest version at this price. 8-)

Hi NordbyNordwest,

Welcome to the forum!

Which model are you looking to buy, the Compact, HP76 or 88?

I checked the boxes of both my Stage 3 (Compact with old panel revision, 88 with new panel revision). There is no revision information printed on the boxes, just the model name, part no., voltage, serial no. and EAN no.

The only way to kind of estimate the revision might be by comparing the serial number - if you can get it from the box and post it here there might be some forum members (including me) who could check if their serial numbers are below or above and which revision they have. By this we could probably narrow it down a bit at least

Hi, and welcome to the forum! Any "old inventory" would have been swept out several years ago when the changes are made. Anything sold as "new", "B-stock", "demo", "out-of-box" should yield you a near-new unit. I would be shocked if any of the older versions are still in distribution, as this was a l-o-n-g time ago.
