Lets start with the equivalent of "you turned it on" right?

You should have two cables (one left and one right) connected from outputs 1&2 of the NS3 to two separate channels on the mixing console, and you have two cables going from the mixing console (left and right) outputs to each speaker.

here is the stupid question of the day.

You DID pan the individual channels on the mixer LEFT and RIGHT correct?

If the answer to that question is Yes, then you can move on to other area's of inquiry, but lets start here.

Yes, it’s the 18880 with the 18881 stacker. No stability issues at all. Once I have the boards loaded, I slightly tap the legs outward to make it as rigid as possible.

I understand why you asked the questions since there is a bit of an optical illusion going on. In reality, the legs are 18” apart (just a bit wider than the brackets for the music rest) leaving only 16” on either end, which means that there are 34” on the opposite side of the two potential fulcrum points. That’s a pretty significant ratio for a 40 lb. board. It would take an unreasonable amount of force with intent to cause damage (far beyond anything required for maximum velocity and aftertouch) on one end to cause the opposite end to tilt up. The rubber pads on each tier keep the boards from sliding around, although it’s not a big concern.

I like the 18880’s virtual invisibility on stage, being able to carry it with a single finger, and the instant setup with the tiers in the correct position. I would definitely buy another one should anything happen to mine.

Make sure you’re not making the same mistake I did. Like you, I noticed that when I initially plugged headphones, in my case to test the keyboard after setting it up, it sounded terrific. However, when I went into my studio monitors, the sound was much worse -especially the acoustic pianos. I’m going into my mixer into two separate mono channels. I made one little oversight -not panning the channels left and right. They were both dead center which basically summed the two. Night and day difference! It now sounds fantastic through my Adam Audio A3X/Sub7. I’m using channels 1&2 on a Yamaha MG124CX mixer. If you’re not using a mixer, make sure the 1 & 2 main outputs go to each respective speaker.
