Is that a sign for business running at high level for Clavia? People buying musical gear to benefit from spare time in Corona times... So they even forget one step in production? Which is a proof for handcraft, on the other side. And would be an explanation for some other effects, too...

Sorry for speculating. Must be a sign of fatigue.

All Stage models have always had the upper ventilation holes, while all Pianos or Electros (well, and also any other Clavia keyboard I think) only had back or bottom vents. No idea if yours is a production mistake that slipped through QC, or if they changed to new components which run cooler and thus require less heat dissipation. Either way, it's an interesting hypothesis.

I hope it's the latter, for Clavia's sake... Because that would be a pretty big slip!

Perhaps they are trying to prevent some of the dust issues on the key contacts?
None of mine Nord’s have been running so hot that they have needed ventilation. The only thing that produced a little heat might be the power supply, but not much.

I think we will get a smoking hot Hammond sound if we block this holes

All intentional updates/ modifications would not explain why they kept the old Revision ID.

That makes no sense with regards to product traceability...

If this is not a QC issue, I'd like to hear the excuse... and if it is, somebody should check their QC.

Missing firmware development, no new instruments, new sounds only from 3rd party. Considering they'd have to always slighly adapt their production due to missing parts on the Corona driven market.

Totally speculation, as I said.

The thing is, that Stage 3 isn't even that recent: its SN starts with 28. The stolen keyboards reported in a thread few days ago all had their SN in the 30s. I got mine Jan 2020 and it starts with 24. Not perfect math here, but the OP's model may well be a few months old now. Maybe it was made just during the transition from RevA 5.1 to 5.2?

@OP when and where did you get it?

EDIT: Look at this guys:

In the comments it says he just got it, and it was Feb 2021. The image is blurred admittedly, but I don't see any vent grid in this one as well...

Let's assume the change with the vent grid was done somewhere between SP27617 (this is my serial ID) and SP28637...

FZiegler wrote:You might want to ask Clavia directly if that should be a new design or a mistake. Together with your last photo. No big thing. Maybe they changed the power unit so the ventilation slots got obsolete.

So the secret is finally revealed. Here is a message from Clavia forwarded by Polish distributor. Take a closer look at the last paragraph.
Really arrogant approach from Nord to the customer.

"These barred vents disappeared sometime during last year when the electric licences were renewed for the entire line of products.
It was determined that the risk of having idiots poke wires or metal into the holes overweighed the needs for the vent in the first place.

Your customer is of the breed that are constantly looking for faults and will most likely be back twenty times over with other queries of what might be wrong.
You may tell them in this case it is quite normal and just a sign that it is as freshly made as a Stage 3 could possibly be."
