Indeed. I have been known to speak 'out my ass'.

Get a pair of QSC K8.2 and you‘re good (1300 EUR). Not in heaven but good enough for weekend warriors.
For better solo piano results, you can use S3C or NE5 as controller for a mac book pro latest running Garritan CFX Lite (close mics) and routing audio back to Nord or to the QSCs. And yes, additional EUR to spend. Or wait until Nord releases a real good piano sample that sounds also brilliant with non-boutique stage amplification and not only with headphones. I have still hope.

I ran into the same thing, though I do use a powered speaker. You might feel better by using headphones to at least see what sounds are possible. It made a world of difference with my Stage 3.

I am still figuring out how to get that same sound but it seems like the best way involves $$$$- and doubling up my qsc k10.2 speakers which doesn't come cheap!!

Hi,
Welcome to the world of Nords and 1st don't worry - many people, including myself, have had the same problem. I've had my NS3 a year now and am still tweaking things. What ppl say about a guitar amp is quite true - not the best. Nords are a premium great sounding board - but its kinda like buying an amazing stereo system and coupling it to sub standard speakers. Do try what some suggest and using great headphones. I've not tried this as I'm not keen on the feel of headphones but maybe I should. In the end I opted for a pair of good studio monitors. But even then had a lot of tweaking / positioning to do etc.
Pete

Thank you very much everyone. I have much to learn but love this NS3. I'll try my PA speakers.

Using a decent guitar amp can be fun sometimes when sending an EP signal thru it, but never an AP.

(Please be gentle...)
Your best bet is a bass amp...they have more low end suitability lol.

Dcollora wrote:I just purchased a Stage 3 compact and have watched many demo videos for the piano sounds on this keyboard. For some reason the piano sounds much better in the demos than my board does. Is there some trick to get the sound right? Do I need to turn on the reverb and effects? I would've thought that stock sounds would be perfect already. I'm going through a guitar amp. Would that be the reason?

I'm similarly disappointed in the piano sounds - new compact & new QSC speaker -- what am I doing wrong? It does not sound like the demos with headphones or the speaker.

A part of this initial "disappointment" might possibly have something to do with Nord acoustic pianos being "raw" enough to throw off some people initially. This has been discussed already in the forum. An initial phase of underwhelmness will probably be followed by love and eternal fondness. :D seriously though, it was the same for me but I have learn how to like them and I wouldn't want to hear anything else
