Did they offer to do anything about it? It's your decision of course, but If I received a new, unopened unit in the condition you've described, the reps at the companies from whom I regularly buy would be good enough to send me a return label and offer to ship me a new, replacement unit as soon as they received the confirmation that I dropped off the original unit at the shipper.

From your description and the pictures, $1,000 wouldn't persuade me to keep it. Seriously. Even then you'd be paying $3,500 for a keyboard with mystery goo and the physical issues shown in the pictures. I'm going to bow out here and let others weigh in.

I agree with ajstan .... my new Stage 3 88 (latest version) was nothing like this, it was in a perfect condition. I would also return it and get a new one

For such an expensive product, I'll be safe and exchange it for a new one - this is a huge let down...
