I have this box and I can do whatever I want....next step would be the JDI stereo or JDI duplex....Radial's comparison chart lists passive DI better suited for "active" output like keys (the headroom before saturation is higher....) but the J48 is already a beast....

I would like to see proper tests on the various DI boxes available. Some cost nearly nothing and some cost as much as a synth. Surely they cannot be all the same, but where is the difference to justify such differences in prices?
I am not interested in "ears-only" tests, I am interested to see quantitative data as well.

Another vote for the Radial JDI with the Jensen transformer, sounds much clearer than other DI boxes I've tried. I've used the mono mode on the NE6, but the sound using the JDI seems to have more clarity across the spectrum I started with the JDI with summing mode, but moved to the JDI Duplex so I can run stereo XLR out if the system allows. Both channels have summing mode, but I don't think you can also get a signal out to the monitors. I use the monitor send from the mixer to feed the monitor. Also, if you monitor has a signal out, you could use this signal out to feed the FOH. Haven't tried that, but it should work.

They have the Jensen transformer that has the reputation to be the best out there, I think there is some comparison on Radial website...If I recall well, the Jensen transformer, when they are pushed a bit, add this odd harmonics when they saturate a bit and sound "Warner"..... I don't have any specifications chart but I tried a lot of DI from venues with sound guys who we're putting my keys with berinhger or Art Pro audio DI and the sound out of the PA was no the same, not the one I had expected....
So, I'm trying first to have the line out of my premix Tascam LM-8St directly into the main mixer and if I have some cross over (not R sure it's the right word, sorry....), the sound of my keys that has a higher output compared to microphone leaking into some other channels in he snake and the board, then I use the JDI duplex...
But Mr G is right, anyone with some performance/features comparison chart? I could goggle it....I will....

And I had my eye on the Radials too (especially the D8 rack version).

But after reading some reviews and discussing with other musicians I went for the Palmer PAN 16. It's a really clean sound and really suits my needs.
Maybe, when this one goes to heaven, I might consider buying the D8 :)

Hello Berretje,

I'm looking on this Palmer PAN 16 DI for 4 intrusments (NS3, Prophet, Nord Drum 3P, and my sound card)
In my searching I found this topic here dated on May 2019.

How is your opinion about this DI now?
Still happy?

I didn't find any poeple or forum using this DI... so few opinion.

Thanks in advance,
Phillius.
