Is original stage ex worth buying?

Everything about Nord keyboards in general; which one to choose, the sound manager, sample editor, and general discussion about the sample and piano libraries.

And in answer to question ‘etc’ from anotherscott. I only need a few extra funky synth sounds and a bit of filter control to be happy all night! Maybe half decent strings / pads to layer a bit. Definitely not the guitar or sax etc. Thanks for your detailed response too. :)

Totally worth it. I'm currently using it as my main keyboard live, it's still excellent and reliable. When I need more synth and sample oriented sounds, I use it together with a good Yamaha board, but even a MIDI controller-laptop combo can be satisfactory.

I guess it boils down to a subjective experience thing but market prices seem to indicate that ‘old’ Nord is still good Nord, or is that just hype?
Exactly, i just picked the new Nord 3 for the sake of seamless transitions and synth sample section capabilities.

But if i were jazz player NS classic is the best bet so far.

It can do that, though the strings will be "synthy" strings rather than samples of real strings. (Though also, with the EXT function, one could always grab some sampled sounds from something like an iPhone, too.)
