Hi That1guy,

Just one example: play Lennon‘s ‚Imagine‘ with a grand and then whith some uprights. You‘ll rapidly understand that for some mood you can‘t beat the nice character of an upright. My favorite by the way is the mellow upright.

"Only Nord takes such an appreciative approach to giving us high quality upright samples."
So true. I am truly liking this board more and more each day.

Yes, when it sounds better! ;)

Not trying to be cheeky - I actually mean it.
Yes, agree. I play jazz, cocktail/lounge, boogie, all sorts but almost all my playing now is live party band.
For this, I use the Silver Grand.
On the rare occasion we play a ballad, I use the Grand Upright.

I’d like to get back to more piano centered playing to try some of the other Nord pianos. At the moment, all the character in those samples is completely lost in the band mix.

Did not think of Lennon's imagine. Just played it. Wow, that is magic. Played it with Rain. Great sound and small size.

But really: Gut impulse and, on covers, trying to match what's on the original.
This is exactly what I would do, trying to match the sound in the song, if I would have more room in my Stage 2....
I did that with the E.Piano though, I have all of them and even if I have my preference, I always try to matches the E. Piano of the record....

By the way, does anyone was able to try to load new piano between songs during a gig form the computer if there is no room? Or at least between set? I've never thought of that but with this thread "praising" for the Upright, I might try to do that....
Well, at home or during practice you could do it but trying to use way more different pianos that your Stage allows is the key to appreciate all this different samples...Maybe if I find a Stage EX at a very good price...

I love the character of all of the Nord pianos, but one combination I really like is mixing Grand Lady D with BlueSwede Upright behind it a little in volume. They fit together really well.

That does create a nice piano sound actually. Very nice. Will have to try that :D
