I'm mostly in the vibe camp, but can bring out brief flashes of technical proficiency when needed.
I play in bar bands. They're not expecting Keith Emerson or Elton John. If I can fake an amazing bit for a few moments, the effect is great. And I do have a few amazing bits. But that's the sauce, not the steak. Just a bit of excitement brought out when needed.
90%+ of what I play is organic. What sounds good in context. Interacting with other musos. Tone, timing, phrasing, etc. I'm all about vibe -- including solos.
BTW, the Nords are amazing for what I do. I want for no other.
