Get the 73!!
I have a Nord5d/73, a Kurzweil SP4/7 (76 keys) and a Hammond sk-1 (only 61 keys).
Next week I will sell my sk-1/61 to buy a sk-1/73.

What do you feel the SK1 gives you that you do not get from either the NE5D or the SP4-7?

Owned a NE1 61 and a NE2 73. I now have a 5D 73. If you always use the NE as a second board, the 61 is probably adequate, but it sounds like you want a single board.

If you were me* you'd get the 73.

+1: one keyboard, 73 keys, two keyboards, get the 61.

Yes, the idea is for a single board, hence my "all-purpose" description at the top. I've done the double keyboard stack for years, with my Korg CX-3 (61) and Roland FP-4. In fact I've made almost no or very minimal changes to my set up in almost 10 years. The big one was running the Korg through the Ventilator pedal, which has made a huge difference. As far as using one board I'm putting the emphasis on the organ features from the NE5, and again, I find it easier to navigate. I'll likely go for the 73. Thanks for all the tips!

The organ-sound of the nord is too rough, the sk1- sounds fat and warm - no chance for Nord, sorry!
In my cover-band this would be no problem, but making gospel-music you need a real hammond.

And the piano-sound of the Kurzweil sometimes is very slight. the (very simple) piano-sounds of the sk-1 are strong in the band-context!

For my purpose the sk-1 is a great all-in-one-board!

73 is perfect, the best compromise...

I use the 61 for gigging — portability, saving stage space. I double on sax so the 73 was just more money, size, space, weight. I've gotten used to tapping the octave down button if I'm soloing and want to get really low down, especially on clav wah. I don't play piano much, I'm an organ and Wurly guy. If you're a real piano player and want to ride left hand bass patterns, I can see why you'd want the 73,
