Is that right? That ambient noise was not being transmitted by the pickups into the audio output signal. Audiences weren't hearing that. It wasn't present on recordings. Or am I wrong about this? And there should be separate recordings of this ambient noise for different generations of rhodes? That would raise the possibility of mixing a Mark I tone with a Mark V keybed noise. Heresy, I say!
Why not equal treatment for the acoustic pianos? Surely the ambient noise produced by Steinway and Fazioli keybed mechanisms are not the same. Why should the acoustics be short-changed in this way? Perhaps there should be a separate piano library containing samples of people playing with long fingernails so we can hear the little clicks with each note? Where does it all end? Oh, the inhumanity of it all...
The mechanical noise of acoustic pianos is already recorded as part of the sound.
As for keybed noises on an electromechanical instrument:
I guess the priority here is for those who want the instrument to sound as though they were sitting at them — which is hardly the priority of studio players and live performers, whom Clavia is aiming at.
Next up: Breathing noises of the player, and rubber squeaky noises from shoes on hardwood floors. I swear, unless Clavia fulfils these simple requests, I'm buying a Casio.

I've moaned and moaned about the Nord Rhodes. It's pretty good now with the Ep7 and Ep8 sounds. It's good enough to use for 99% of things.
Oct/Nov, I'm going to buy another suitcase 88 and D6. Soundwise, I don't think there's much in it, but the whole playing experience. The nord can't match that. It's more a tool for a musician to make a certain sound with. The old gear makes you feel like god.

I agree completely. I guess since I'm more of a B-3 player than a Rhodes player (though I have Rhodes/clav/Wurli/CP70 sitting around), not feeling like the Real Thing (talk about goddess…nothing like a B-3, man…) is part of the package of buying anything digital and doesn't bother me as much (well, plus I have the originals when budget and backliners allow).
What it's about for me, is that the nord handles like an instrument.
Not like a piece of cardboard that pretends to sound like something familiar.

Hello Everybody !
First, thanks for your reply, some were funny
Please if you have time, listen to this youtube video :
There ... can you hear it ?
The sound of the Rhodes AND the mechanism .... That's what I would like to achieve. Some brands propose to push harder the sound of the mechanism to get closer to the realism of this intrument.
That's why I am looking for those mechanism keybed sounds
Cheers everybody,
De fursaK

All I can see is a Rhodes that doesn't seem to sound very good, doesn't play very well, and is badly recorded.
If that's what you aspire to, by all means...

My old Rhodes smelled like the backseat of a 1960s car. It also had mice in it at one time, and they used to scurry about.
Can Nord please emulate the smells of rotting naugahyde and rodent urine? I've managed to replicate the clattering of their claws via the sampler, so I'm set there....

From this I take it we should say "Rhodes, rest in peace". In the future I think perhaps people will be asking other keyboard vendors to replicate some of the amazing sounds of the Nord line of products. (without the mice and urine smell of course).

Not all Rhodes sound like the one from the video. That has plastic keys, and they sound horrible.

Says the video is not available in my country. Maybe I should be thankful.
