Puh, that's a difficult one. Indeed I like the bass, mid, and treble ranges in different ones, I do not have a single favorite. I like EP1 in the bass, EP2 in the mid range and EP4 and 7 in the treble. Sometimes the Sparkletop for its presence and character. The most even so far seems to be EP7 but it has its limitations as well and since it is amped it doesn't lend itself to amp simulations as easily as the others...

This is exactly how I feel about EP7. Sounds fantastic through headphones, but as soon as it's played out of speakers, not the same. I'm a Sparkletop guy. That Rhodes does it for all of my Rhodes needs.

When i had my nordpiano, it was the sparkletop rhodes. Others mk1 were too flat, lacks of presence, dynamique, body, in particular for the solos.

Could anyone make an actual list which includes the Nefertiti EP8? Would be interesting, similar to the completed list of the grands and uprights.

Hi, I added the option to have the full list! Note that if you already voted you can also change your vote!

For me, Nefertiti is the best all around.
But, I find uses for EP2, which reminds me a lot of the Rhodes I owned years ago. I also like the Mark II for certain things, and EP1 is great for mellow stuff.
My least favorites are the Sparkle Top and Mark V. I feel that the Sparkle Top has no real body and doesn't "sing", while the Mark V lacks character.

Thanks! I find it interesting that the tines amped is so popular. For me on the one hand it „sings“ and is authentic. but the overall tone doesn‘t please me, especially in the lower notes. Also there are some strange velocities in this sample. The Nefertiti has great dynamics but lacks sustain. Actually i made a split with the suitcase ep2 in the low and middle department and the bright tines from F5 up, because the upper octaves of ep2 are a little weak. Plays and sounds great to me, this old and tiny suitcase sample. As you can see in the poll, there is still much love for it!

I chose EP2. Just sounds the most Rhodes-like. Though I hated Sparkletop at first, it has so grown on me. It sounds lovely. Bright Tines is also very useful for certain styles. Those are my go-tos, usually... but almost always, EP2.

I chose Nefertiti, it reminds me the most of the funky tone of my old Mk 1 I played back in the late 70's in Crossfyre. EP 2 runs a close 2nd.

Same for me, I didn't even vote because I think you could use all of them depending on the cover you do....Usually, I listen carefully to the record, then I try to find the one in the list from Nord that is the closer one, then I go to the 10's of programs using EP Piano that I found in this website, a lot of them using two EP and finally I choose the one that fits better the songs including a comparison between the recording, the live version I prefer and the other sounds/instruments that are around and that I'm using for the song....Last check in is with the band, when I still hesitate between two versions....and after that, I'm done....
Well, I assume that I'm not playing that much EP alone in a solo situation, beside some Santana tunes (Where I usually play Organ...) or Herbie Hancock ones, so, maybe that's what I'm undecided with which one I prefer....And to be honest, I have never ever played a real EP, whatever it's Fender or Wurly, so, that's explain it as well....
I cannot do the same with A.Piano because I wanted all the EP's in my Stage 2 and I had chosen one XL, the Imperial, subjectively I guess because I played one in the past at Frankfurt Music Mess and it was the best experience I've had with an Acoustic Piano ever....Plus the silver in L and done, no more room...
But good thread to help people like me gaining more knowledge about EP's, thanks
Sincerely
