Nord Stage 2 Sends CC Values on different Channels
Hi Guys,
I have a Nord Stage 2 and I'm experiencing problems with sending CC values to Logic. I'm programming Midi strings and I'm using the knob in the external section to write midi volume and Midi CC (expression). I'm using the mod wheel to write modulation information.
When I write in the information, logic creates two automation lanes for all of the different CC value controlled parameters (modulation, volume and expression). I've attached pictures here to show you what I mean:
When I select the different bits of automation, they show up as having been sent on different midi channels, which I assume is the manifestation of my problem. The automation information on the first of my two modulation lanes, for instance, is on midi channel 14. The automation information on the second of my two modulation lanes on the other hand is written on midi channel 1.
Every now and then Logic will tell me that it's found two events with the same information and offers me to make them the same.
Any idea what I'm missing here?
Thanks,
Vincent

Check the MIDI settings, NS2 can transmit on 2 channels, one of them is called Global.

Cool thanks!
So do you mean I should try turning one of the two midi channels off? If so, how do I do that?

So I guess you mean that I should be setting all midi channels in the Midi menu to 1? That sounds logical, but unfortunately it still didn't do the trick.
Any other ideas?

There is a OFF setting too for the global MIDI channel.
I think you should identify the "extra" MIDI message (you should know which channel this is on, because you recoded it in logic?) and then see which section is transmitting in that channel. Set it of OFF.
There is also an EXTERN channel setting, see the EXTERN menu. Sorry I am not next to the NS2 and cannot check.

Re: Nord Stage 2 Sends CC Values on different Channels
Hi,
sorry for the late reply on this one but I was away for a while.
I had a look at the Event list on Logic and found out that expression, modulation and volume are all sending through channels 1 and 14 which is probably the cause of the problem.
However, I can't find an option in neither the Midi nor the External menu on the NS2 that allows me to set the channels through which volume, expression or modulation are sent. When I'm flicking through there is no instance where something is sending to midi channel 14, which is all the more confusing, since apparently lots of my data is sent through that channel.
Thanks,
Vincent

I believe the global midi channel is set to 1 (Turn off global MIDI)
