Hi guys,
I'd like to ask FX routing on Stage, Stage 2 and 3. Does someone know how that chain is configured? Here is a couple of question:
- When you apply FX slot 1 (which is insert type), is that FXed signal going to FX slot 2? Or there is parallel dry signal which goes to slot 2, so you have one signal with FX1 on insert, and another one with FX2 on insert, and they summ together into one, for further processing?
- Where in FX chain goes Rotary speaker sim? Is it before or after FX1, before or after FX2?
- I assume that Delay comes after all that (FX1 and FX2), right?
- Where in FX chain goes Compressor? Is it before all FX slots?
- Drive and Amp Sim, do they come before Compressor, at the start of FX chain?
- Also for EQ, is it after compressor, before FX slots, or not?
I tried to find some diagram but I think they didn't never put that in public. If someone know how to recognize that by ear, or have written, I'll appreciate that!
All the best!

Re: Nord Stage FX chain and routing
Info on Fx routing is a bit scattered in the Manuals actually and there is no diagram, but if you read carefully and "connect the dots" you can still get what you need to know; I will try to explain my understanding and include in Italics some text about it from my NS2 manual:
All in all: the Slot FXs affect only that slot and can be applied only to one Section (instrument) at a time and (my assumption) in the order you see them on the panel; the 2 Slots (and their FXs) are stereo-summed before getting to the Rotary (see details below)and then Global Effects (Compressor and Reverb)
Slot Effects - these can affect one instrument (per Slot) at a time The Slot effects are located in the main Effects section and in the AmpSim/ EQ section All Slot effects have separate engines and settings for Slot A and B, you have two sets of Slot effects available for each Program These effects can be synchronized to the Master Clock which can produce some very creative sounds
(..)
About mono/stereo and effect routing
Some of the effects are mono in/mono out, some are stereo in/stereo out and others are mono in/stereo out The channel configuration is stated in the related text for each individual effect Whenever this ap- plies it will also be explained in the corresponding effect description
(...)
Global Effects
If activated, the Compressor and Reverb effects will process all signals routed to the CH 1/CH 2 and headphone outputs, but do not affect any signals routed to the CH 3/CH 4 outputs Both these effects are stereo in/stereo out
(...)
About the Rotary effect’s signal routing
The Rotary effect is placed after the panel effects in Nord Stage 2’s signal path It also sums audio signals if both Slot A and B are active This means that if you are using a split organ setup for example, both “manuals” will be affected by the Rotary effect (just like on the real thing)

Re: Nord Stage FX chain and routing
Thank you maxpiano for your time. I know that I used word "slot" but I thought about FX1 (amplitude modulation effects, tremolo, autopan etc.) and FX2 (frequency modulation effects, chorus, phaser etc). I only want to know about how they are routed in detail.
Thank you again!

Yes, seems I misunderstood, but reading again it was clear what you meant, so in that case the assumption is that the chain at Slot level isGorantovic wrote:Thank you maxpiano for your time. Re: Nord Stage FX chain and routing
I'd say it's Ampsim/EQ --> FX1 --> FX2 --> Delay. I ran some tests; if you use Drive (even 0.1) on Ampsim/EQ, the whole section becomes mono in/mono out, so if it were at the end, effects such as Autopan or Ping Pong Delay wouldn't give stereo, yet they do!
