Stage 3 owners: how are you liking the new synth engine?
It would be good to know for those of us weighing whether to buy the stage 3 vs. saving some money on a discounted stage 2.

Re: Stage 3 owners: how are you liking the new synth engine?
Hey, i´ve got an NS3 compact.
The synthsection is far superior to the NS2, in my opinion.
With the superwaves you can create really massiv and warm sounds.
In addition the oscillator configurations are really helpfull to create sounds with only one slot, for which you would need two on a NS2-synth.
An other thing i really like is, that you can combine a sample with standard osc like sine, saw, etc. with a single slot. I like it alot.
Also something i found out by "copying" a sound sound from my NS2 to NS3 by dailing in the same parameters. The two sounds in direct comparision sound to me just identical. This is a good thing - so even i we cannot use synth presets from NS2 or LA1, you can get almost the same sound. Only a few paramters need an other setting to "copy" a sound, for exmaple the unison and osc mod, because they have a different range.
Over all i would absolutely recomment the NS3 synth engine over the NS2.
Hope this helps a bit. If you have anyother questions, i will try to answer them, the best i can.

Re: Stage 3 owners: how are you liking the new synth engine?
In general I like superwaves a lot. In fact you haven't those in Lead A1 so there's this difference in between NS3 synth and A1 and this is better in Stage. There's still one thing with S-waves which I am missing: wideness and amount of detuning. For example, in Access Virus you can determine how wide those waves are (how many waves are combined) and how much they are detuned. It's detuning which makes the differences in trance or EDM-types of supersaw leads. (Lack of detuning is there also with in Unison parameter.) Superwaves sound great but you cannot make that much differences with them. This makes me wonder that probably those are kind of prerecorded waveforms and not realtime calculated. In that case, you could get similar waves to NS2 synth with careful sampling (from synth like Virus etc.)?
To sum my general view of NS3 synth: it sounds great, it's a big improvement over earlier NS synths but as a real professional synt it can be still little too simple. I can get great sounds from it, but same time there're sounds which are diffult to get from it. But of course with sample engine you can make many sounds which were otherwise impossible...

Superwaves sound really interesting, but since the engine also has nsmp support, you can make your own (I posted a few some time ago). Or am I missing something here? E.g. can these be modulated in any other way than a nsmp could not?

Re: Stage 3 owners: how are you liking the new synth engine?
Played it again for an hour today. OSC mixing is hugely powerful. Mixed a string sample with a triangle wave using the OSC combo feature. Played with the sound a bit, added effects and I had a dual voiced sound on one slot that would have taken up two slots on the Stage 2. That x2 = very powerful compared to Stage 2.
