Any details as to what's different about the 3.0 format?
Perhaps embedded info for basic parameters (attack, filter)?
Check out the SYNTH PRESET section in the manual — this sounds like one of the COOLEST FEATURES of the Stage 3:
Every sample loaded onto the machine comes associated with basic info, so that you can select it from the automatic "Synth preset" list and have an instantly working sample instrument without having to fiddle around.
In the Manual, p. 35, it says this:
Samp: A bank of sample presets are generated automatically, based on the sample content currently in your nord Stage 3. Pressing the Samp soft button (Program 1 button) shows all these presets. When loading a sample from a preset, Filter and Amp Envelope parameters are automatically set to values appropriate for that particular sample. Of course, these parameters can still be adjusted manually as needed.
It would make sense to expand the sample format to include that info directly within the file.
And to give us that capability in the Sound Manager/Sample Editor.
