Best solutions for hiding leads/brand names

Post by jeddy3 »

Hi People,

I wanna do the above and the obvious answer is to drape something over the rear of the boards, however my top board has a heavy-duty fan that I don't want to cover over.

Any ideas>

Are you using Nord boards, and intending to hide the fact that you are using them? The red will be a giveaway unless you cover all the red.

Put the Nord in a sealed box and control it via a midi keyboard.
Paint the midi controller.
Put it in a second box.
Control it with another keyboard. :D

Just kiddin'.

But same question as above: Why hiding the brand?
Those who don't know anything about keyboards won't care. Those who do will recognize the board anyway.
Whould you have a gig coming at Roland's facilities and only a Nord to play with?

Never felt the need to completely HIDE things, but I do want things to look dressy.

The stands I use complement the red Nords, and have nice cable guides that keep things neat. I also had cables made to size, so there's not a lot of excess length to deal with.

Stay stand:

I know a guy that wants to create the illusion of a "real piano" for his act, so he went with these keyboard piano shells and likes them a lot. Too much space and effort for me, but might work for you.

I played in a cover band back in the 80s and we blacked out all logos on our gear, as we wanted all the attention on the band.

What works great for this, and I have been using it ever since, is black contact paper. You can it fit exactly, it stays on, and when you take it off, it leaves no marks, glue, or anything, just peels off nicely. I covered the wood on my Prophet 6 using it. If I every sell it, I can just take it off, still good as new. I also covered the logo on my Baby Spider Pro stand.

Is there somewhere I can get an upright piano version of this? I would definitely be interested in that.

@DJKeys:
Covering the Spider stand, I can understand, but the wood on the Prophet 6, why?...I like the wood side so much....And what kind of Microphone stand/arm do you have? it seems to be very sturdy and easily adjustable...

This band doesn't black out everything. I was using it as an example. I never liked the look of brown wood on a black synthesizer, and Spider logo was particularly large.

I never liked the look of the wood. On the Nords, it is beautifully finished, on the Prophet, not so much. Plus, brown and black doesn't do it for me. I can always remove it with no residue if I sell the board.

I jury-rigged the stand, it is an on stage Mic attachement with an additional fitting, and a triad orbit coupler and the new Ultiboom by Ultimate Support. I also have the triad orbit boom, but it is really heavy and really meant for a studio. The Ulti is light and has one knob that adjusts everything at once. So far, so good.
