Changing "old" samples by the "new" NS2EX 2.0 ones
Hi everyone. I know we've already discussed about the new samples of the NS2 EX that let us save memory in our Nord machines that accept samples. So I've begun to replace the old samples 1.4 in my NS2 by the new "clones" V2.0 of the NS2EX sample factory bank.
It seems to be quite complicated in fact because the names are not always the same and when the name is ok, the sound can be different and change your patches...
So, I think that the best way to fix that is:
:save you "old" sound with "upload" in Nord Sound Manager
:make a note to know WHERE was the sound
:delete it in the NS2
:download the "new" version from the factory sample bank of the NS2EX
:check the sound and keep it or delete and download your "old" sound"
What would be fantastic: a list to know which sample is the same, the corresponding name and a comment about the sound.
I've made 20 of them and I'm soon gonna post it here but it could be better to make an "official" list on the forum (like the tutorials...etc).

Re: Changing "old" samples by the "new" NS2EX 2.0 ones
As far as I know, the new v2.0 samples are only available in the new Stage2EX and Electro5, and in their factory restore bundles.
And what's available, however vast, is only a fraction of all the samples included in the current (v1.4) libraries.
The 2.0 samples have not yet been made "officially" available for download in the online Sample Library, and it's easy to understand why. Converting all of the samples in the Nord Library to the new format will be a huge work, and I'm sure Clavia wants to do it properly, making sure that the sound quality for which it's famous will not be compromised with a hurried, poorly done conversion.
In fact, I just noticed that the introductory page for the Sample Library now explicitly says "Here you can find all of our first generation Nord Sample Library samples" ...but the 2.0 are nowhere to be found yet.

For the moment, we're just "hacking" a few files from the factory restores, but of course it's awkward and slow, that's not what they were made for!
I think (and hope) that once all the library is converted and released, the names and versions will be clarified.
We just need a little more patience...

DOH!!!
I think they put online the page less than an hour after my post... nothing to do, Clavia is ALWAYS one step ahead!

I've tried and it works. There are new versions of our "old" samples in the Sample factory bank of the NS2EX (which was on Clavia's web site from the beginning), you already find some 2.0 samples letting us save space in our machines.
Now we get more sounds and NS2 is compatible.

Hello, is there no other way to change the to new samples, as per one per one?
Thank you!
Thank you!

Hi, I'm afraid no. You can download all the factory bank of the NS2EX but that deletes your sounds...

Hi,
I do it like this:
- Backup my curent Progs and save them on PC...
- load the Progs / synth / sample of the nsEX (ok only the small Pianos.. and sometimes I replace the MK II Shallow with the Low Deep because the ns2 has not enough RAM)
- check and hear your favorite sounds - write them down...
- restore your setup
- load the favorite progs into free slots
- load the needed samples
- relink the right samples to the new progs
- ready
For this you can use the excelsheet (export of my soundlist and you can try my backupfile...
.
EDIT: I have Problems to Upload the backupfile - too big? Anyone an idea?
Hope it works: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/7hegm3kfw21h ... udpXa?dl=0
EDIT2: Does the download work with dropbox? Was the first time I have done this...

Re: Changing "old" samples by the "new" NS2EX 2.0 ones
Hi,
I was just on the phone with Pablo to confrim the procedure but it's super slow and unconvenient. To those who have already changed some samples 1.0 to the 2.0 (I agree, not the same name most of the time...), could you post which ones you have already transferred and that doesn't change the sound of your program?
Thanks in adavance
Sincerely
