D5 setlist saves

Post by Fabricius »

Hello everyone.
I have a question about the setlist feature in the 5D
What settings are saved in every song?
If I make a transpose (fx +3) will this also be saved in the song?

Hi,
In a setlist song you save a name and the references to 4 programs (only references).
Transpose is at the program level (saved in programs) and also there is a global transpose (keyboard level).

I've needed transposed or tweaked versions of programs for set list songs, my solution is to just make a copy of the program I need tweaked and store it in the upper reaches of the program memory, and use the tweaked copy for the setlist.

The program memory is so generous I don't anticipate setting aside the top 50 or so slots for setlist tweaks to ever create a storage issue for me personally.

I, too, have run into transposing needs. Like suggested, I save the specific program to an empty slot; then rename it. I will do something like: original: "Silver Grand" at location 2:42 and then duplicate and save to let's say, 2:43. Then I will change the program name to "Silver Grand 2" for a 2 step higher transposition or "Silver Grand -2" for a 2 step lower transposition. What I ultimately do is organize all the like programs in alphabetical order. You'd be surprised how often you may want to pull up a different key when jamming in a live environment.

With all of that said, I would truly prefer it if the transposition could be memorized at the set list level :-)

Yes, I would love that too! Esp. for those pieces where you go up 1 or 2 semitones for the last chorus.. Got my NE5D 73 yesterday, have been setting up my first setlist.. Really miss this feautre!
Can it be expected to be added to OS update? Where to sign up for this? :D

I mean, as I dig in more into this: why not save all parameters for both parts for all 4 slots in a single setlist entry, complete with transpose and gain settings? Since a particular setup (setlist entry) is tied most of the time to just one song?
Or I just don't get the philosophy behind it? Could somebody please explain me how to wrap my mind around this?

Parameters are stored in programs, as has been the case since the beginning of time not just for Nord but for all keyboards going back to Prophet 5 days. The Setlist feature is not intended to replace programs, but to provide a quick and convenient means of organizing multiple programs for purposes of playing...a set.

Note that there are two transpose functions available, one global and one programmable and storable on a per program basis. If you have a singer who wants to modulate the ending of a tune one or more times, simply enter the System Menu and leave the menu open and you can transpose on the fly and it will affect all four positions in that song in the setlist (and every other program). When she/he is finally done, dial the global transpose back to zero (or wherever you want it) and exit the menu.

Bless,

Pablo
