New OS v1.44 2011-10-13

Post by Hanon_CTS »

Hello All,
you spoke, and Clavia listened.
in case you haven't heard the news, or found this on Clavia's website:
New OS v1.44 Released Oct. 13th 2011
Nord Piano update history

v1.44 (2011-10-13)
Pedal actions could on certain occasions lead to unwanted level changes when string resonance was active. This has been optimized to ensure a smoother and more natural sound.
Fixed a bug that was introduced in 1.40 that prevented the unit to start properly if there were no pianos at all in the flash memory.

Previous release:
Bugfixes and added support for the Long Release feature

2011-09-07
The Nord Piano OS has been updated to version 1.40. This update addresses a few display issues, improves pedal up/down voice allocation and adds a new feature to the Nord Piano: the Long Release from the Nord Stage 2 and Nord Electro 3 HP. The Long Release can be activated globally in the Sound Menu and works on acoustic and selected electric pianos version 5.3 or later.

Get the new OS version in the Nord Piano Download area. Long Release compatible v5.3 pianos can be downloaded from the Nord Piano Library area.

Many thanks to the Nord Team :thanks:

WOW - Great news and BRAVO to Clavia for bringing it so quickly!

Totally forgetting appropriate modesty, I'll add my wishes for future advances: Increase dynamic range on the acoustic pianos by about 12 dB, and add alternative tunings (if possible even a user-defined one)...

Indeed, a very good news for us!

Long Release is a more or less important addition to users here; Personally I think I'll put it "on" and never off again. It gives a nice realism to playing.

But this addition also has kind of a symbolical meaning:
first, it gives this missing quality to Clavia's flagship piano model, which we discussed earlier on this forum.
And secondy (related to first), it gives us a feeling that Clavia pays attention to its customers opinions and reads this forum!

Hanon,

Thanks for the news!!

Question: You mentioned that the Long Release feature could be activated in the Sound Menu globally. I'm still learning to get around on the Piano and I've looked in the manual but I don't see how that can be done. (I realize that the Long Release feature would not be described in the older manual.)

What would be the steps?

Thank you.

Hello Unclebyron,
It should be activated through a new parameter added in the Sound Menu "shift + program button 3" then scroll to it using the (Bank, Menu) and/ or (Value) buttons. I believe that you change it's value using "Shift + Bank, Menu and/ or Value".
Cheers, Hanon

Hi,

Do you have 5.3. version pianos? Long release needs them (or later) to function...

Yes, indeed! What should it [long release enabled] sound like. I think my hearing is shot from to many ELP and ZZ-Top concerts in my younger days.
