"Pitch stick error / press SHIFT".
Can you help? Every time I turn on my Nord stage 2 it says - "pitch stick error/press SHIFT".
I press shift and it finishes booting up.
But the pitch stick doesn't work at all. Weird.
How do I fix it? Anyone any idea.
Many Thx.
Rob.

If it's under warranty contact Nord and/or send it in

Re: "Pitch stick error / press SHIFT".
The pitch sticks are significantly more sensitive than typical pitchbend wheels, to permit a different kind of subtle use. On boot-up, as they lack the central dead region of a typical pitchbend wheel, they are calibrated. Unfortunately, over time they fail, and the only solution is complete replacement (or just ignore it and lose pitchbend), which is not a DIY task. To me this is a significant design flaw, and I'm surprised that a better solution has yet to appear.

Thanks.... That's really annoying.
I've had it about 4 years. Would cost to much to send it back.
I wonder if anybody has done the replacement of the pitch stick themselves?

Hi,
I think an exchange is not so difficult, you find the link to an online shop under links.
But it could IMHO also be that the cable of the pitch stick became lose - just happened to my NS EX some time ago and got a similar error. Opening the
NS , reattaching the small cable and was good as new.
It you're still under warranty though indeed might be best to send it in.

Yes, I should say that "not a DIY task" doesn't mean "impossible for someone with relevant experience to do", there have been some tales of attempts here on the forum. And this thread http://www.norduserforum.com/nord-stage ... ch%20stick suggests that the cable might be more likely on an instrument as young as yours. See also http://www.norduserforum.com/nord-stage ... ick#p66604 - do post if the wiggling or cable solves the issue.
Pablo may also have some advice based on, oh, about ten thousand times more experience than me.

Re: "Pitch stick error / press SHIFT".
pitch stick cabling is hard-soldered to the panel board -- it does not / cannot really "come loose" and simply be reconnected, at least not without a soldering iron
anyone with competent soldering skills sufficient such that she or he has no fear of toasting a PCB worth hundreds of dollars, can perform that operation. most folks will be better advised to avoid attempting DIY repair...
bless,
pablo

Of course Pablo is right on the money. My mistake, I somehow remembered a connection, but my age and memory must have betrayed me
Anyhow, if you can live without it, it's doable, otherwise tech center might be best. Especially in the US where you have the pleasure to deal with Pablo
Cheers
