Expression Pedal Question

I am looking at an Ernie Ball Pedal for my Electro 3.
Can anyone make a suggestion as to which model would be appropriate ?

Avoid the M-Audio EXP, beware of the Roland Ev-5.
I haven't tried a Yamaha FC-7 but there are good feedbacks on our forum.

I've had good luch with a Mission EP-1 on my NE2; just make sure you've got a high-quality TRS cable for it - avoid cheap jacks (yongshengs...)
EP-1 is a very durable, heavyweight pedal, feels far more solid underfoot than any of the cheaper plastic-housed pedals (Moog EP-2, M-Audio EXP, etc.). Definitely a bit pricier than those models, but worth it in terms of saved frustration...

I read somewhere that the pedal you want is an Ernie Ball #6168 with a Y cable. I read somewhere else that Nord dropped support for this pedal a few revisions back.

Personally, I use a Yamaha FC7 and love it, mainly because it's nice and big - I can rest my whole foot on it. Our guitar player uses one of the old TC Helicon expression pedals to control his Voicelive II: clearly built to be small and sturdy, and it certainly succeeds there, but I can only fit half my foot on it at a time so it gets very uncomfortable very quickly.

I have an Ernie Ball setup as described above (connected to a Electro3), but I have yet to find a way to get it working such that the volume changes smoothly thru the sweep if the pedal. About 80% of the volume change is in the last quarter of the sweep.

Anyway my pedal is the 6168 (I think), with a switch that I hoped to use to control the Leslie effect.

Yeah, there were settings in the menus which recalibrated the values coming from the pedal to avoid that problem, and it's these that I'd heard Nord have dropped. I don't own an Electro, but on my Stage it's in the System menu (Shift+Program 1), called 'Swell Pedal Type' and 'Control Pedal Type' (depending on the socket to which the pedal is connected). One of the options used to be 'Ernie B', but apparently that's not there any more.

Mine is an Electro3, which still has an Ernie Ball setting, but even still I have not gotten it working properly. I'm curious if anyone else has had success on an E3?

The C2 Manual says something about different specs (resistance, offset, linearity).
"Roland, Yamaha and Fatar are linear control pedals with different scaling and offset.
ErnieB are marketed with a logarithmic response. The response is rescaled internally in the C2. They may need a Y-cable (stereo-plug > 2 mono plugs) to work with C2."

Therefore you have to make sure the pedal and the C2 can work nicely together. Maybe you can find a similar required reponse/offset behind the names for it in the manual.

The response of the pedal looks like it is part of the sound generating of the C2. Pressing the pedal will increase the distortion if selected and maybe influence things like response on bass. Suppose therefore it is different than just hanging a expression pedal between the C2 (output) and an Amp.

Note that Nord no longer bothers trying to include Ernie Ball pedals in their possible config choices. Too many headahces. Nord owners are best advised to avoid those pedals.
