The ultimate Nord Stage2 modification?
There was some talk a few weeks back about this, and I am sure it has cropped up many times in the past.
Composing and performing is thirsty work, and while Clavia thought to leave a nice area to rest your beverage (on both sides of the panel area), they overlooked the fact that vibrations generated while playing can send your cup over the edge.
I spent some time on the problem, and discovered a plastic cup holder insert that is designed for use in boats. The good thing about this as that it only requires a circular hole to be cut and it pops right in. I first scored a circle of the right diameter using a compass, then a used a Jigsaw with a short blade to remove the unwanted section of panel.
Finally, the cupholder pops right in to the void, and is glued in place with a bit of epoxy around the rim.
I might post a detailed step-by-step if anyone is interested, but meanwhile here are a few pics:
BTW. I have contacted Clavia with this idea - they suggested that they were already working on a similar feature for an upcoming model, but were unprepared to give more details.

Hej Neo!
Are you by any chance related to any of the original members of the Monty Python team? Perhaps you should ask your mother ...

Hi - awesome - I've just cut a hole in mine but I seem to have gone through some cables and things inside? It has stopped working. I hope it's just the jack outputs or something. Can you help? I feel a bit gutted to be honest because you made it sound really easy and now I've trashed my Nord. :-/

Hej Neo!
I have no problem balancing a glass of Mackmyra on my NS2. The proof is in this video, upper left ... I will not order your kit!

Re: The ultimate Nord Stage2 modification?
Oh sorry, perhaps I should point out - maybe the difference is that I did this in my Stage 3 (beta model from Clavia). I assumed the internals would be the same but I guess the 6" colour display has forced some of the internals to be moved across. Not your fault, I should have thought of this before but I was so engrossed with my velocity curve editing that I didn't really stop and think. Damn.

Re: The ultimate Nord Stage2 modification?
It seems the perfect companion with the Nord Fruit Bask announced today on the clavia site.

Clavia is alienating it's drummer customer base! I can only assume exhaustive market research showed that drummers don't eat fruit during performances.Nord Website wrote:The Nord Fruit Basket is compatible with all Nord keyboard instruments, excluding the Nord Drum and Rack versions.

At least you didn't try to put it on the right hand side, where they mounted the new holographic virtual theremin controller.
