Time intro (organ)

Post by qwert »

Next week I'm going to play Time by Pink Floyd with my band and I need a splitted sample for the intro. I've already sampled a free Rhodes vst for the right part of the keyboard, but I need a convincing organ sound. I know it's a farfisa and you can listen to it clearly at 1:07.

I would be so glad if someone could send me some wav files reproducing the organ sound.
Once finished I will share the sample.

Hello qwert,
how do you know that it's a Farfisa and not a Hammond?

I think that it was a Hammond, as most, if not all of the organ on Dark Side was.
Here is the drawbar registration: 005854321 V2 Vibrato
If it works for you, PM me with an email address, and I'll send the WAV file to you.

Thank you very much, the sound is very close!!! (I'll send you a pm soon).
In regard to the type of organ, I initially thought it was a Hammond too (like the rest of the song) but then I made a small research and I found a very useful document about Rick Wright's gear: http://sparebricks.fika.org/sbzine28/Wr ... rev156.pdf
At page 6 (under the title "Farfisa") it says:
The organ in the intro of “Time” is the last time the Farfisa was featured in a Floyd recording.

Hello qwert,
very interesting pdf.
I applaud your attention to detail...
I have sent you a sample file of the Farfisa also.
Cheers, Hanon

I'm a huge Wright fan, and I was very impressed by this document until I saw the "RT-3" on page 17. :)

That detail notwithstanding, that's a great writeup on his gear. Though I've never heard of him playing an XB-5, I'd always thought he'd played a Bill Beer chop since the 80s..
