Buy a lead a1 before namm

Post by ocelot »

Hi,

I got a good deal on the nord lead a1. Is it save to buy now so close to namm and knowing they are about to release a new product? Long time customers must have some experience of the nord product philosophy. Is it possible they release a new synth?

Who knows what Clavia has instore, obviously there's lot of speculation with regards to the New teaser ad and what model it is,perhaps a Stage 3,new Electro, other than that, its a case of wait and see what else Nord have to showcase in the product line.

Given the NL4 and A1 are still early into their production run and a current product, based on usual timescales for the life of their synths,I would take a guess that there perhaps isn't going to be another synth to overshadow them at this NAMM,but you never know, its the 20th anniversary since the 1st Nord lead,so maybe we might see a special limited edition NL4 model of sorts for them to mark the occasion. :welcome:

We only have under a week to wait now anyway,so if your not sure what to do,just leave it a couple more days, then you'll have a definitive answer.

The A1 is still a cracking synth regardless of what Namm brings us,I managed to scoop a mint secondhand A1 recently, had the same sentiment to hang on to the cash to see what Nord might have up their sleeves or a new synth on the horizon, but the deal was too good to miss.

Whatever it is, it has draw bars and a large display. I am willing to bet that it won't be cheaper than a good-deal fpr the NLA1.

Hej Ocelot!

Perhaps you should think about what kind of keyboard you really need/want? :?
Something that fits your taste of music and your programming/preset ambitions?

I'm an old guy that used to play Juno-106 & SH-101. 8-)
And I just adore my NLA1. But feel a little cold towards my NL2X. Got the "Analog Voltage" for my Blofeld = love! And I will never part from my JV1010.
Yes, I guess I live in the past. For that I find my NLA1 supportive.

I see creating music as condensing feelings. Very different for everyone.

I'm a gearslut!

Thanks for the answers. I really like the a1, it's just I read how people regret buying the lead 4 after the a1 came out and I want to avoid that.
I'm getting a good deal but it is still a lot of money so I would like something that keeps my interest the next few years. I guess I talk to the dealer on monday and ask him if it's possible to wait until namm :).

Thanks !

Thats understandable, which is why its probably a better idea to just hang fire for a few days, the good thing is you haven't long to wait to find out if there is anything new synth wise.

The A1 has plenty to keep your attention for a few years anyway,I have the older NLeads (1/2/3) and owned them for a many number of years,(1 and 3 from new)and still enjoy creating sounds on them, its one of the things that I love about the Nords,is that I have never grown tired or bored of them in all these years, because of how quick and easy it is to create the sounds you want.

The A1 may be marketed as an entry level synth from Nord, but I can't believe how things have progressed in this model with creating sounds easily and also storing patches from program into performance mode with ease, and the Mutator and Randomize sound options will keep you creating new things for a long time.

The Like function,it may seem a basic idea, but what a great way of creating loads of quick variations to store later without having to overwrite sounds all the time to avoid losing an edit wish the older Leads had this.

Are you not able to place a deposit on the A1 to secure it?

I would say your in a good position to buy it anyway,as much as its a good deal and your perhaps bothered someone else may snap it up if you hesitate,a lot of people are probably in the same boat and holding off purchasing anything to see what NAMM brings.

You are safe :) The NLA1 is a wonderful VA Synth . Good Choice.

The Nord Electro 5 will be their main new feature at Winter NAMM 2015 http://www.nordkeyboards.com/products/nord-electro-5

Have fun with your new NLA1 :keyboard:
