Ive never worked with nord synths before and yesterday I bought a NL4. Completely lost now since I always have used synths with big screens in the front panel. Is there an in depth manual for downloading? Im pretty confused

Yes there is, here:
http://www.nordkeyboards.com/downloads/ ... ord-lead-4
but your instrument should come with a printed manual. Did you get it?

Hej Kridybe!
I'm old and also confused. But I get tons of support on this magnificent forum.
The NL4 manual, p 34, might be a good starting point.
http://www.nordkeyboards.com/sites/defa ... on%20F.pdf
To get a bit acquainted with my new NLA1 I stared tweaking the factory patches and saw what happened for each knob and button ...
I have finally ordered a book that has been recommended by several persons on this forum;
http://www.amazon.com/Keyboard-Presents ... 1423492811
Will go through it during X-mas/New Year vacation ... hope I will understand more then ...

Re: New user
Hi,
the question is: what did you do with your existing synths: using mainly presets or did you also program sounds "from zero"?
Your problem is probably no Nord issue but the topic of programming classical synths with the tools and means of classical (subtractive) synthesis: A Minimoog didn't have menus, presets or samples but oscillators, filters and envelope generators. The same in alle the Nord Leads and similar virtual analogues.
My tips:
a) Read the manual (see point 9) - several times
b) look for literature or youtube tutorials
c) build yourself a "basic sound", i.e. a program with one layer/slot, one oscillator, no modulations, open filter, open envelope (and store it!) - this can be your starting point for any "experiments".
d) most important: Just turn the knobs and press the buttons - hear what effect it has and learn!
Don't forget: We all have started once.
You have already done the very first step: participating in the Nord User Form - there are so many persons with know-how and experience! Just ask!
