Based on the kind of flash RAM needed to be able to access data "in place" in real time directly as memory (as opposed to the cheaper kind of flash that is accessed as storage, like a USB thumb drive), if they had 2 gB of piano flash RAM instead of 500 MB, I believe it would probably add about $400-$450 to the retail price (assuming that the internal architecture of the machine is even designed to address that much memory).

Hi Bernard,

I'm new on the Nord Forum and also new as an owner of an NS2 with waterfall keys as well. I love the NS2 a lot and main reason for me to buy the NS2 SW 73 was the Hammond section. Additionally I like to play the pianos with a nice pad to be added over the wheel.

I fully support your opinion about the black keys. I own more than 10 keyboards of different brands (Roland, Yamaha, Solton and even an original B3) but never experienced that problem with the creaking. Can't understand that Clavia does not seem to have a solution. I still hope that it will improve after a while of use.

But first of all I want to say a big thank you to for publishing the excel file with the program bank :thanks:

I was searching the web everywhere but did not find anything. Your list is VERY helpful since I can print it out and highlight the programs that I like.

I was frustrated because the NS sound manager does not even allow to mark, copy and paste the list to an excel or word sheet.

Thanks again.

Hi Joe,

You're welcome. Glad you can use the sheet.
About the black keys - it had'nt been improved over the time, it's still nerving. Clavia responded to my request only with warning to loose warranty if opening the device. Sad enough. However my warranty had been expired and in the next time I will open it and try to fix that noise with some lubrication.
I will report about here.
If anyone other had experiences with the problem or even with a solution, it would be great to hear about.

Bernard,

When applying lube to the ends of the springs which are involved in that creaking 1) be very conservative in the amount you apply, and 2) be sure to use a lube which is non-conductive. Silicone-based is most commonly mentioned for this.

Thank you, Pablo.
Not that I don't trust your knowledgement, but I'm curious: why non-conductive and why to be sparingly with lube?
Btw, ALL of my black keys are that creaking.

cheers,
Bernard

Thanks again, JoeKey for encouraging me to finally address this issue.

I did eleminate the creaking of the black keys.
I opened a new thread to post a manual here:

Hi Bernard,

To answer your questions: why non-conductive and why sparingly?

The life of an instrument can sometimes be rough. Left in a car parked in the sun, then carried about the place oriented one way or another. Excess lube/grease can migrate from place to place inside the chassis. One small drop of conductive lube in the wrong place on the mainboard could cause significant damage.

Bless,

Pablo

Hi,

At home I very often play with a headphone, it's only disturbing other people in the room, so please don't tell my wife that there is a solution now, or I'll have to do it on my NE4, and that's some work

Thanks, Bernard, for your tutorial, I just browsed through it but currently I wouldn't dare to do that ;)

However I already saved your pdf in my records - you never know ...

Have a great day
