More to the point, I wonder when they will release something new. Their focus appears to be on their new hardware products, not on sounds. I like the open architecture but it is meaningless unless they produce additional features and sounds at regular intervals.

Sampled piano+pad sounds not very good idea... Reason is that best real pads "live their own life", they develop with lfos etc. so it's not possible to make it well with sampling (if there is lfo every note will start this individually and sound gets terrible). I wouldn't even try that. So you could in principle only use static pad sounds. Then you cannot easily put pad on/off or mix its output volume. So IMO best thing is to purchase a decent synthesizer to play with Nord Piano or use MAC/PC with usb midi with some soft synth. (Personally I am using Arturia Origin).

We know that Clavia has great EP's but still I would like to have more detailed or even XL versions of them! IMO it's a pity that we have 196,9 MB Bosendorfer (which is great!) but most EPs are still under 10 MB size and the biggest one (Bright tines suitcase) is 14,8 MB. Now we have much more memory capacity than in that time when those EPs were sampled. Isn't it time to update those EPs as well?

This been said, I wouldn't mind getting more acoustic pianos as well. IMO Yamaha Grand isn't as good as it can be - in fact I don't use it at all. Maybe Clavia could make it better, perhaps more detailed XL version of it?

Good point Jackson, on the pads.....now that I've had some time with it, I'd rather see another C7 Studio 1, type piano, that has, even more, of a nice sparkle to the tone. The Studio 2 version is the more subdued, mellow tone, and I don't find it too useful, but the other has a good sizzle to it, although the tone from hi mids on up seem a bit lacking.

Now we have IT or close to IT. Looks like Clavias new Bright Grand is sampled Yamaha S4 grand. The new sound is BRIGHT and for sure it will cut through mix easily. Normally you first thing you'll do is to put some EQ (and perhaps compression too) to make your piano bright enough for noisy stage. This new one seems to be just that right "out of the box". I am very glad they did it.

My vote would be for any high quality MONO Grand with as many zones / velocity layers memory would allow. I'm sure most
of us gig in mono, I hear too many tonal differences between key groups / layers even on the XL Bdorf.

I would like to see layered sounds, too. A-/E-Piano sounds with layered analog sounding pads and acoustic strings. I see the argument of pads samples without a synth engine beeing static. Would need only two or three tasty tuned layers, like you can hear on the Korg SV-1 - would be for puristic gigging situation, where you maybe use the Nord Piano only. Further more I have to agree, to work over some of the E-Pianos like the Wurlitzer sample.

Can't understand why Nord is not opening their sample library for the Nord Piano. I don't see big danger of cannibalization their product line. They could combine the opening of the Nord Sample Library with a new campaign of marketing communication to the Nord Piano, which gives a nice new communication point to the press and the internet. It would be another killer argument for getting new customers being interested in digital pianos like me for the first time or winning piano customers coming over from Roland, Kawai, Korg, etc. So, the business case for that would be very positive, for sure!

Does anyone know in which time interval clavia released their grand samples in the past? I mean, do they release a new one every 6 months, e.g.?

It appears Clavia releases a new sample approx every 6 months, though it's hard to say if they're really on a 6 month schedule. Although, the Nord Piano 88 was released last May 2010 which contained the then new Grand Lady D Steinway sample and Studio Grand 2 Yamaha C7 sample. Then in December of 2010, they released the Bosendorfer Imperial Grand Imperial in XL, and then in June of 2011, they released the Yamaha S4 Bright Grand sample. I think Clavia has done a remarkable job in giving us not just a variety in tones within the Piano Library, but also a variety in grand piano sizes-now from the 6'3" Yamaha S4 to the 9'6" Bosendorfer Imperial. And we're not even talking about the killer upright samples they have.
