BUG?? VIDEO - STRANGE SUSTAIN PEDAL BEHAVIOUR

Post by fabiokey »

HERE IS THE VIDEO......
slot A - sus ped function is on , sus pedal is working / sus ped function is off , sus pedal is not working
slot B - sus ped function is on , sus pedal is working /,sus pedal function is off ,sus pedal is WORKING ANYWAY !!
this thing happens for both Piano and Organ.
if I change program (I.E. I go from D1 to D2) , things are working OK.....pedal is NOT WORKING when sus ped function is OFF.....
then I switch to another memory allocation..... same error.....those programs are variation of a piano organ bass split .
in some programs is ok , in some not.
If I copy the "no good" program in another memory allocation , the problem remains.
looks like a bug was generatet INSIDE those programs....the nord is working ok in all other programs not generated by those variations....
maybe I miss something? some pedal preference or what?
I wrote a mail to nord to take a look at this post....
thanx

I cannot download the video but I have an idea: have you tried to switch the SLOT B sustain ON ( btw: on which section?s) then back off and the save the program?

PS: I assume you are not using dual slot programs, right? Maybe a more complete description of the affected programs, explaining sections used in each slot, may help

I tried....same thing.
I work on dual slot.
I have on slot A piano and organ , all over the keyboard. Everything works fine. If sus function is off , sus ped doesn't work.
on Slot B , piano and urgan on upper part , synth bass on lower part. For both Piano and Organ sustain always works , even if sus function is OFF. for Synth , still on slot B , part everything ok.
another stange thing....As I select "faulty program" , Sus Function on slot B is off.....sus ped doesn't work.....everything ok.....I switch on , then pedal works......I switch off again , and pedal keep working....
looks like works ok till I don't touch it!! ahahahah
no USB cable is connected.
thanx

I've tried to follow your setup and everythings working as it should.

I think you mix up some things ...
On every slot you have 3 instruments, piano, organ and synth.
If you switch on dual slot mode (both slot LEDs are on) you have six DIFFERENT instruments.
Having piano and organ on slotA over the whole keyboard range, they will always play. Having piano and organ on slotB in the upper range too (still both slots are enabled) you hear TWO pianos and TWO organs. Switching sustain off (slotB) will still leave sustain ON on slotA, so you what you hear playing in the upper range are slotB instruments without sustain, but slotA instruments with sustain.

If I understand you right ...

cheers

Hm... that is weird. I saw the video and indeed the slot B (only) with the pedal light off still responds to the pedal.
Just in case, can you set the pedal type to the correct type instead of auto and see if that cures the problem?

Hi Bernard , thanx for your post.

As Mr-G said , I don't use dual slot..... I use slot A OR slot B (when one is working , the other is switched off....)
....and behaviour between the two , as you saw in the video , is different....
Mr G , thanx :-)
the pedal is original nord one....and works fine when everythng is fine.... :-) :-)
those things happens JUST in few memory allocation...
you saw the video....weird.. :-)

hey fabiokey,

sorry, I did not see the video. And you wrote 'I work on dual slot.'
I don't think this is a bug, because my NS2 is working correctly (V 1.7).
Did you try to reinstall the firmware?

cheers

@fabiokey: why don't you save your patch and post it here, so other NS2 users can test it "as is" and see if we get the same behavior?

Hi Fabio,

Wow! I'm thinking that you were definitely one of the very first to claim ownership of an NS2. What is the serial number of your instrument?

I was a little confused at first, because you said that you have a Stage 2, but the Piano Section there looks more like earlier Stages -- then I realized that what you have is the Rev. A version. Very few of those were made, but they have differences from the much more common Rev B models. You do not have Kbd Latch and Kbd Gate pedal functions on your NS2.

What OS version are you running? It does seem like a good idea to perhaps reload OS. Also, what pedal setting are you using? The video certainly does seem strange, and it's even stranger to learn that this behavior is only present on some programs and not on others...

I'm sure that we'll all be interested to learn what is causing this mystery....
