Noisy output on my Electro 3 when connected via USB

Post by Zargon33 »

Hello, I have an electro 3 that I am having trouble with. When I am connected through USB, there is signal noise out to my monitors. If I disconnect the USB cable, the noise disappears. I just purchased the keyboard, it's brand new. I checked the outlet my system is plugged in to, it is grounded. I've never experienced noise through USB like this before, worried something might be wrong. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks.

Hello Zargon33,
Welcome to the forums :welcome:
What you report is my experience with the Electro 3 also.
My noise seemed to diminish when my laptop was on battery power, or I used an externally powered USB hub.
Sometimes shorter USB cables with ferrite beads on each end reduce the noise also.

Wish I had a better solution.
Cheers, Hanon

Hi, I am getting the same from the Stage2 88. Not a massive problem because usb only used for programming. However it would be nice to know the reason for this and if there is a cure. Noise remains after powering down the Keyboard. Is it some kind of earth loop?

After reading a few comments on this I found my solution. The Nord was plugged into a USB Hub. I simply transferred it to a port directly into the rear of the computer. Hey Presto. Noise gone. Thanks for the posts folks.
