Re: Electric Grand Amped (New)
Thing is, all this new, large file stuff's ok, but it'll mean a serious clear-out for my EX, reducing the options available.

Re: Electric Grand Amped (New)
The demo sounds like what the doctor ordered. Between that and the new Wurli, I'm all set.
Now, all we need is a clav with note-off samples and aftertouch "wobbling".

Re: New EP7 Tines Amped & Electric Grand Amped
While I appreciate the new samples and they sound very nice, I am a little mystified by where Nord is going with this "amped" series. I have the NE4 which has an effects section with a few amp sims and overdrive. Are we not supposed to use these sims now? I would love to see some recommendations from Nord about how we should set on-board effects in light of the sounds being pre-processed other than an implied "do what sounds good to you". The narrative provided for these new sounds is very short on information.

Re: New EP7 Tines Amped & Electric Grand Amped
Many people using these samples will be doing so on a Stage 2, which has the ability to split and layer across three zones. The new "amped" pianos from Nord allow the possibility to get that sound without consuming the amp sim f/x section for that slot, which in turn allows it to be used for another instrument (organ or synth/sample). Note that this effect also includes EQ, which is often very important to me on the synth section to make my bass a bit beefier, so I'm very happy to have these new sounds as they are.
"Do what sounds good to you" is not a cop-out. With many thousands of Nord users out there, there is a HUGE variety of styles being represented, along with a huge variance in amplification systems etc. Everything from home stereos to ultra high-end studio gear. It is simply not practical to try to offer specific advice on how individuals "should set on-board effects." Many a happy discovery has occurred from using these things in ways which may never have been contemplated by the designers. Surely it is better not to color people's thinking in advance by prescribing usage.
Free up yourself and your music,
Bless,
Pablo

Re: New EP7 Tines Amped & Electric Grand Amped
Nice addons to the library (and for free!)
The Electric Grand is nice, though compared to the EQ/Amp Sim settings I have been using with the original CP80 sample not SUCH big a difference, still sounds a tad nicer.
As for the EP7, that one I REALLY like, replaced the Rhodeses in several of my most used patched, very "raw", dynamic (I would say a it contains more "artefacts" in the sense of being more "imperfect" (noticable especially when you listen to R and L separately) but will have to listen more carefully) and with a nice crunch at higher velocities.
Had to sacrifice an Upright though but EP7 is definitively a keeper for me, let's see what tomorrow's gig says.
Have a nice -soon to come- weekend!

Re: New EP7 Tines Amped & Electric Grand Amped
No amount of processing will turn the previous Wurlitzer samples into the new "amped" samples. To me, it was useless, never cut through a mix, and lacked any expression. The new one actually presents an option that will make me consider leaving my real Wurlitzer at home.
From the sound of the demos, the same can be said for the Rhodes. The only way I ever used the previous Rhodes' was with plenty of distortion, as the samples themselves never had the real "bite" or "bark" that my two mark I's exhibit, respectively.
Simply put, these new samples sound like the pianos they're supposed to represent, and can actually be used in a similar fashion.
If the electric grand is up to snuff, too, I'll be in heaven. I've been very happy with the CP70s in the Motif, so far, and have invariably used them over the Stage.

Re: New Samples: Amped Classics at the mothership
Wow, great news! And pleased to see that they also provide a mono sample too. Can't wait to try these samples this weekend. Thanks Clavia!

Re: New EP7 Tines Amped & Electric Grand Amped
Pablo, you're a great guy but I think you are being a little overly sensitive. The narrative for the samples reminds me of how Kentucky Fried Chicken describes their blend of herbs and spices. If Nord was just a little bit more forthcoming about how they created the samples, it might give me and a few others a better sense of how we might want to further color them...if at all. Unfortunately, my ear is not so well trained that I can determine what was done to them relative to a raw sample. Also, while I understand your statement on Stage users...what about us Electro users? Anyway, onward... As I said I am always pleased to get new samples...just thought I was making a constructive suggestion..that is the spirit in which it was intended.
