For live use, I was hoping to use my Nord Wave as a midi controller for my Waldorf Blofeld synth module but it will not play the sounds as they are. When it's in Midi Controller mode, the Nord warps the presets of my Blofeld. I've played the Blofeld with a DSI Prophet 08 and M-Audio controllers with no problems at all, so I know it's something specific to the Nord.
Any idea what might be causing this? All I want is to be able to use my Nord as a midi controller without it putting its own stamp on the sounds from the Blofeld. Is this possible?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or insight into this issue.

Re: Nord Wave as Midi Controller
Hi NW16,
Is it possible to set your Blofeld to receive only note data and filter out cc's? Perhaps you want to run that midi stream through a computer (midi out from Wave to computer's midi interface input, and computer's midi interface output to Blofeld input) and fire up Snoize Midi Monitor or Midi-Ox (Mac or PC) to see exactly what data is coming from the Nord which might be causing this. This sound very odd indeed...

Hi Pablo,
Thanks for your suggestion. I didn't think about that -- I'll give it a try and see what comes of it.
Cheers!

Re: Nord Wave as Midi Controller
I didn't know there's a specific Midi Controller "mode" on the Nord Wave. However i do know there is a way Nord browses through patches in three different ways. By numbers, by alphabet and by type. IMO, you should check in which of these three modes you're currently in.nordwave16 wrote:When it's in Midi Controller mode, the Nord warps the presets of my Blofeld. This may indeed be causing weird jumping around through programs on the Blofeld.Don Solaris wrote:I didn't know there's a specific Midi Controller "mode" on the Nord Wave. In the Global menu of the Blofeld, you can turn the reception of controller message (MIDI CCs, stuff like pitchbend, modweel, filter sweeps, etc) off. If you want to prevent the Blofeld from switching programs, you need to have it in multi mode. Press shift + 'Sound / Multi' and then press Play (below the section knob) to switch between selecting a multi program and editing one (you'll see it change in the display). You can then scroll to the right using the selection knob until you see a setting called 'Prg Change' on the bottom-right. If you disable that, this specific sound in the multi will no longer respond to program changes that get sent to it. This only works in multi mode though.
