Hello,
With only 128MB of sample memory do any of you NP2 owners find you are frequently running out of space for samples? How many samples patches can you fit in the NP at a time and can you load one sample out of the sample groups you can download from the nord website?
I'm considering consolidating some gear (stage ex compact, korg X50, roland MKB-1000=massive 80's MIDI controller) and getting a NP2-88. I'm an organist (hammond/traditional pipe) and I've got a C2 with custom 32 note pedalboard which I adore but I'm finding that now I only use the stage for the piano/ep sounds and rarely ever utilize the synth section. I'm very keen on getting access to the nord sample library however and this is why the NP looks intriguing. The biggest trade off I can see is that I'm losing the synth modulation capabilities that came with the stage (modulation/linking effects to aftertouch etc.) Mostly I want to go from 4 keyboards to 2 to save space. Any additional thought are welcome.

Re: NP2 samples size question
The question is - do you need the samples?
When I was thinking about buying the NP2, the sample library was a real appetizer.
In fact I don´t use Nord´s samples very much. When I need a synth sound I tend to use a real analog piece of gear with is much more
cutting through the mix plus I have a filter etc. Mostly I´m playing piano sounds which are sounding great.
Perhaps one day I will digg all the samples but now - I don´t.
128 MB sample memory is ~ok~, about 40 patches.

Re: NP2 samples size question
Well, you definitely have to be selective about the samples, especially if you want to use the larger pianos.
I wish there was more sample memory, but it's manageable once you wrap your head around the fact that you need to make decisions about what you do and don't need, then delete the samples you aren't likely to use.

Re: NP2 samples size question
Slight correction to Vampidemic: piano memory and sample memory are quite separate. Wanting to use larger pianos will have absolutely NO impact on usage of sample memory.
But you are absolutely right that once either memory area is filled to the brim decisions will need to be made as to what is mission-critical and what is expendable.
