I don't own a Nord C1, but I would like to.

Post by NORDC1 »

Hi, I'm Scott, I live in Northern California and I am hoping to make 2014 the year I get a Nord C1, hoping for a miracle deal ..

I play jazz and rock and love the Hammond b3 sound. I hope to have one of those in my living room at some point, I have thought of restoring one or building one from parts.

Hope to learn more about the Nords.. :thanks:

Hi Scott,

:welcome: to the forum!

I wish you much success in finding a C1. There might be a lot of people that will upgrade to the real drawbars of the C2D.

But think about getting perhaps a C2 - and you will get the fantastic sound of the C2D (= C2 with the latest firmware v 2.00).
The basis sound of all three types is very similar but the distortion, the key klick/bounce effect and the leslie simulation of the C2D/C2(v2.00) are miles ahead referring to the C1.

Another possibility: Take the C1 and look for a Neo Ventilator or the new GSI Burn.

All the best!

I'm thinking the drawbar c2 is in my future, but for now I just see the C1 as my entry level into the nordiverse..

I love effects pedals, I own a few..

I have a Small Stone and a Small Clone for Jarre sounds and I have a cheap Behringer RM600 that isnt really too bad a Leslie, (Poor Man's Ventilator?)

Thanks!!!

:thanks:

Hi again,

and just in case and for explanation:

--> Nord C1 = 1st generation of organ with draw-buttons

--> Nord C2 = 2nd generation of organ also with draw-buttons. If you add the firmware V 2.00 you get the same sound engine like in the C2D !!!
Today there is no better Nord organ sound!

--> Nord C2D = 3rd generation of organ with physical drawbars = the latest and best-sounding Nord organ.

Because of the price difference between a second-hand C1 and a C2 is not very big, consider to buy the much better sounding C2 (then even with the sound of the C2D). Unfortunately the C1 can't be upgraded by an update.

I'd second that; I'd go for the C2, so you get the upgrade option. It might not work that way, when you get down to it, but you can hope and at least you've got two lots of potential buys to consider.

Get C2. I have all three.
The only reason to get a C1 is if it is dirt cheap.

The C2 with 2.0 sounds great.
