it seems like the topic is getting a bit out of hand... My bottom line is, NS2 is a great board, it was when it first came out and it still is, to me. But I'm bored with the EPs, lack of colour and difficult to work with (and I am saying this because if you can't play higher than an octave and a half above middle C then, what good is it). Please give us some new update EPs, you are totally correct AnotherScott, I may not like it but at least it's new, new colour, new sound to work with. who knows may be it will work blending with the existing sounds. And its NEW! new is good, exciting! i don't know about you guys but i'm always excited when i visit nord's webpage to find out that they had just released new samples, even if it's totally useless or rubbish but it's something new to work with and to me, that's very exciting!

but hey! thanks for all the opinions and advices. hopefully one of these days i'll manage to find a way to work with it!

I'm about to have a financial windfall and will be getting a Suitcase 88 and D6 Clavinet again.

Then I might enjoy my Nord for what it is more, a good organ, a good synth and a brilliant piano.

Brand new Stage 2 owner here. As EP was my first concern when buying this board, it was also the first thing I messed with out of the box.
I found that with some tweaking the Sparkletop preset was pretty close to my personal tastes in a Rhodes sound, with a good balance of growl, bells, tine-off sounds etc. Throwing on the Amp sim and messing with the mids and trebs some solved the matter of the weaker high range, at least for me.

Roll on late Mk1 Suitcase 88. Set up "right". :D

It takes a while for the shortcomings of the Nord Rhodes to really grind you. I thought it was amazing for about a year....

I have a question to the NS2-Users: Is it possible to get a good Rhodes sound when layering two of the Nord Rhodes samples (perhaps the suitcase with the shallow...?)? I still habe the NE3 and think about buying the NS2 instead. As a wrote often before, the Rhodes i a big issue for me...

I know this has nothing to do with Nords own Rhodes, but myself got tired of it and now use mainstage with the Scarbee Rhodes and Wurlitzer on my Nordstage classic SW73. Sounds great and never had any problems with it on stage! Will not buy Nordstage2, will instead wait for version 3 which I hope will have updated sounds and more memory.

I've tried that, but the result never sounded better to me than any single Rhodes sample. For one thing, you always get some sort of chorus-like sound, which you can influence in various ways but can't get rid of. The other thing is that I didn't manage to get the sound I wanted.

Splitting might work in some cases.

Same here, I tried blending a Mk1 Low Deep with the '67 Vintage (around 40% for the first ad 60% for the second)' not so bad but not exactly what I was looking for and sound was always too "big" even if interesting from a "color" perspective. A trick that I tried also on that combination was applying AutoPan to just one of them the Mk1 only, nice.
Maybe working more with the EQs it would be possible to get a better balance between the two but... I didn't have time (and maybe enough motivation) to do it yet :D
