Song-making. Drum-question.

Everything about Nord keyboards in general; which one to choose, the sound manager, sample editor, and general discussion about the sample and piano libraries.

Song-making. Drum-question.

Post by thamainthing »

Hi,
I know this question probably doesn't belong in this forum, but I'll ask anyway. I have a Nord stage 2 which I use to make some music. I record it onto the computer, using Ableton live.
Recently, I've wanted to add some drum sound to the music I make, but I can't seem to find any good way to make drum sounds on the computer. I am looking for anything that I can use to
make acoustic drum sounds with, which I can add to my stage 2 recordings. How do you do it? drum-machines? drum-programs? Please share your way of making beats and rythms, because I'm still quite noob
at this!

Thanks for any help and tips. I really appreciate it!
Erik

In Cubase you can select midi sounds or sound which are in Cubase instead of your synth and make a new track on track 10 which one is for make drum tracks. I have no idea how it works in Ableton, but maybe you can give it a try.

One of my favorite drum tool is EZ drummer from toontrack. You can use it as a Plug in.

If you have a MAC there is on called DM1 - The Drum Machine which is super simple to use. I think its $5.

One often overlooked alternative is to stick microphones in front of a drummer and press Record:

Hi Erik,
I too use Ableton Live, in fact, mine is just a 'lite' version packaged with an audio interface.
I too am new to computer recording, but my version of Ableton has a set of instrument sounds including a wide range of percussion.
Have you tried putting a post on the Ableton forum...maybe somebody can help you.
Good luck!

Hi Erik - I use Superior Drummer 2.0 by Toontrack (with the Custom & Vintage add on). Beautiful sounding kits!
