Hi
I'm playing on a Roland RD-700SX, which i also use to play bass with. I have splittet the piano in left and right. The signal to the bass is triggered through left split/left hand. I've done this so my left signal is passed through midi and out to an external sound module "Roland JV-2080". This means that I can get a clean stereo signal piano by taking the signal directly from the piano and I can take a mono signal from my sound module.
Now I have begun to look at Clavia Nord keyboard as my new instead of Roland, and now my good questions is: Is it possible to do the same on the North as on my Roland. I would like to be sent midi only from my left split on midi channel 1, as my sound module picks up and plays inatead of?
Hi Rasmus,
Welcome to the forum.
The RD700sx is a great board. Do you plan to buy a Nord Piano or a Nord Stage ?
The Nord Stage (all models from the classic to the NS2) has an external section, it's a 2 click button operation to do the split you want with it. You can have 3 zones.
I mentioned the early Nord Stage because, for a similar price, it may be a good idea to buy a (used) NS instead of a (new) Nord Piano, you'd get the same piano library, no sample, but a synth, an organ, an external section ... That could complete your JV 2080.
Cheers,
Frantz.

I have looked at a Nord Electro 2. In the spec it says:
"Dual manuals - MIDI Split: Nord Electro 2 is designed two support an extra MIDI keyboard in addition two egen. This gör IT muligt play the Nord Electro 2 as a 2-manual (Lower / Upper manuals) organ with different drawbar settings for hvert manual. "
Is this what I can use?? I just want to have a lower part of my left hand and the upper in my right?
Ok, I do not own a N.E.2, just downloaded the user manual, this split button works only on the organ section, so it won't split the other internal sounds (piano section). Otherwise, it looks like you can't send only one split via midi to an external sound module, your JV 2080 doing the bass for instance.
In the user manual, it says the NE2 is monotimbral, so you can send/receive only on 1 midi channel. There is another midi channel setting named "Lower Ch", used the other way, to choose on which channel an external keyboard can trigger the lower organ sound.
Maybe someone has another idea / solution ?

I realize this thread is a little dated, but if your main objective is to have discreet signals for your bass and piano sounds, the Nord Stage 2 has four outputs, so you should be able to assign a stereo piano to outputs 1-2, and the synth section (your bass tone) to output 3. Then you wouldn't necessarily need an external module. Be aware, though, that samples in the synth section are not multisample (layered) capable, so it is somewhat limited in it's sample playback capabilities.
