EV ELX112P vs Qsc k10
Has anyone done a sound comparison between EV ELX112P vs Qsc k10? I'm told by one keyboard player that the EV 12 might be a better choice by having a wood cabinet - giving a warmer tone. Any thoughts?

Re: EV ELX112P vs Qsc k10
I am not familiar with the EV. Although, I did purchase a Zxa1 which is a pretty cool speaker.
I believe I read a thread where the EV you're comparing didn't perform adequately.
It's rare to read any negatives about the QSC powered speakers.
A wood cabinet should sound better. Plus, it will usually weigh more,
The QSC line packs a pretty good punch pound for pound.
If you find something better please let us know.

I'm looking at the thread of the EV's and it's helpful. Thanks.

Re: EV ELX112P vs Qsc k10
Pros and Cons from what I'm gathering now about the EV ELX112P and QSCK10:
Cons
* There is no mixer or EQ in the back of the EV as there is in the QSC. Then again, I wouldn't want to keep fiddling with that for different songs or in between them. So keeping my little Behringer mixer with the hookup could be effective.
* The EV seems to weigh 41lbs. and the QSC 32lbs.
* The EV is more prone is dents, nicks etc. due to it's wood angle and metal grill design. (One reviewer drove his point home that is wasn't road worthy)
* The side carrying handle is in an awkward position.
* The name, QSC has a high quality - superior reputation.
Pros
* The QSC store price is around $749 and the EV is $599.
* Many say the Nord pianos sound better through EV and some say it's because of the wood cabinet.
* I want my Nord piano sounds to sound the best they can.
* I believe I can get a good deal on a EV, where as with a QSC there isn't too much negotiation.
Side by side I don't know which would be more powerful. I play in a blues/classic rock band with two guitarists, so I want to have power and to spare.
I could go to a music shop with my keyboard to try them out one day, but I still wouldn't know what they would sound like with the band and I'd feel obligated to buy there.
I could buy the EV online (even get a slightly used one, with a warranty) and try it for a few days and then decide.

Re: EV ELX112P vs Qsc k10
I've played them side by side using the NS2. The EV's deliver a clearer and more natural sound. I chose the EV's because of those very reasons. Til this day they never clipped or overloaded etc. best speakers in that category IMHO

Re: EV ELX112P vs Qsc k10
I am also on the same page, leaning a bit towards the EV but tomorrow I will try to go to a local music store and audition what they have, but I fear I may not find anything from QSC and Ill consider myself lucky if I actually find EVs on stock.
On my case, I mainly want the speaker for our rehearsals. But I need something sturdy as I have to transport it (which rules out studio monitors). I also want it for some of our small gigs. So far those have been with an non-mic drumset, fender twinreverb and some peavy amps for bass and keyboards. But they SUCK so I want something superb that will get me the best possible sound in both rehearsal/jam as well as gigs. Price is not a problem, as I really want to get something good.
Saludos,
Gustavo
PS: I've been using some 8' behringer speakers I got as a temporary fit, but I got to say they sound very poorly!!

Re: EV ELX112P vs Qsc k10
Just went junting for the speakers but no one has both in any store!! As a matter of fact no one in the city know about QSC!!
Still the only pair of EV ELX112P I found were about about 1,000 USD each incl taxes (things here are more expensive due to importation). I also found some Mackie SRM350s and SRM450s, which are 680 USD and 820 USD respectively. I haven't been able to test them since I had some time constraints.
What do you guys think? is the difference worth it? If I am mainly going to be using it at rehearsals and small gigs, should I get a 12" or a 10"?
