Nord Wave 2 (To be or not to be - that is the question)

Post by Lyonart »

A visit to the Nord website suggests that a new product may about to be launched at Musikmesse Frankfurt.

I think my money has to be on it being a Nord Wave 2 with many of the featues added that users have been asking for for a while.

Watch this space.....

[Update] - Seems like my intuition radar needs a little adjustment. I think Nord may have missed a trick here. The sales of the newly announced NE73HP are unlikely to be huge (particualry as its only a small change and will not tempt would-be Stage 2 buyers to shift to the cheaper board).

Nord are yet again risking confusing their customers with a narrowly packed product line-up.......but lets wait and see, they must have done their market research in identifying the market demand.

Hello !
If it is, I'm a bit angry ... I just bought a NW a month ago. !!!!!!
Brrr ! Gshhh ! Sh...
It would have been fair from Clavia not to wait the extreme time limit.

I think the Clavia should offer a memory upgrade for th Nord Wave, if this is technically possible. I mean: who will buy a Nord Wave anymore considering that the NS2 has twice the sample memory?

I would also like to see a NW2 or maybe a NWEX, but the problem is that I think Clavia probably makes more money on the Electro series than they do with all the others combined. So for a business it makes sense. I heard from a dealer that Clavia makes 90% of the money from the Electro and Stage series. Too bad though.

There's plenty of sample memory as it is... Why would you need more?

I looked at old leads and thought "Hmm, I wonder what a wave is like". Looking at them, they look pretty damn good. I'm most certainly keen on getting one.

An old wave is totally enough for me, the new one will hammer Wave 1 prices through the floor, just as the Stage2 did to the EX.

Why do we need a Wave 2? The Wave is fine the way it is. I would love to see split-keys, and more routing to after-touch in the next OS update, but that's about it. An arpeggiator would be nice. Split-key and after-touch being the priority. These changes can be accomplished through an OS update - not a completely new instrument. If Clavia makes me sell my Wave in favor of a Wave 2 just to get these minor upgrade options... Well, let's just say I wouldn't be too happy about that. :|

Yeah, give us a Nord Modular 3 which can mangle samples at least as well as the Wave and do all the cool stuff the previous Modulars could.

I would like to see the following upgrade for the NW2:
- increase memory
- velocity layers
- Import funktion for SF2 samples
- Wave samples in slot A and B
- arpeggiator
