i need some help with two sounds i would like to reach:
-Hiromi's Time Difference, synth solo sound starting on 1:31

- Jason Lindner's Seven Ways - sounds on 3:10, 3:45

so far i was tweaking sounds just by randomly changing parameters( wave is great for that ), now that i have certain sound in mind i'm facing problems, because my lack of knowledge...
any input is welcome!
hello, Roook!
For the sound in the first video, try having a square wave (or two playing in unison) and assign low pass (lp) filter to the modulation wheel through the morphing menu. Have a very little resonance on the filter: just a slight touch of wave's character. Then balance the sound with EQ (may be add a little more bass for phatness and a little highs to highlight the glassy sound of the lead tone). Finally, a little of stage reverb will polish the sound. DOn't forget to save it and thus reserve slot B for a contrasting sound so you can switch between lead and rhythm instrument like rhodes, for example. Btw, this track is very proggy. I like, nice!
For the second sound the story is similar. Start with square waves and simply add distortion and reverb and see what it sounds like. You might want to play staccato when you play arpeggios and hold fifths when you sustain that weird distortion harmonics overlap effect like in the solo. You can also try sampling some type of external sound that has a similar physics to square wave and then work with amp envelope to achieve a lead character.
thank you very much for your help!
now i have very similar sound, but it still needs some final tweaking, seems like this is the hard part
thanks again!
