If I'm not mistaken, doesn't Nord have a Sample Editor software tool that would allow 3rd parties to create sample libraries?

Actually 500MB can do a lot if the programming is done correctly. Check out what we did with the Stage EP with the Motif: http://neosoulkeys.com/motif/

I guess you don't know how the Nord keyboards work.
The keyboard can not have 500mb being used for a single piano.
The EPs we have now are between 5mb and 15mb and they sound good, but not very good.
The acoustic pianos are less than 200mb.
So, for the EPs, I don't see any reason for them to be more then 100mb and sound very good.
The way motif, fantom, triton works are different, it's not about size.
So, It can be done, they (Clavia) just need to do it.
And like always, it has be free to justify the high price of the keyboard.

Ohhh...Ok! I didn't know it was that little. I suppose the 500MB can be taken down to about 250MB with lossless compression. I could shave off another 50, but anything lower than that, I wouldn't even do. 500MB is the minimum I would do to sound halfway decent. Sure I could loop and get it down, but looping is getting old on pinos. That is old sampling techniques and I hate looping pianos.

They did it again! Clavia has put their time and effort, and........... developed a new app called "nord beat".
They keep coming with new stuff, and abandon making/improving the ep's.

Zahush, I doubt that the people who programmed the Beat had anything to do with sampling a new ep. Completely different departments. But I do wonder where the WHite Upright they were supposed to release has gone...

In other Rhodes related news, I've just seen that the Swedish software manufacturer XLN Audio are just about to release "The Mark One" - a new sampled Rhodes Instrument. The blurb below sounds fairly promising - would be interesting to know how this will compare to the Nord / Scarbee Rhodeses (does anyone have any theories as to why Scandinavians seem to be producing all the Rhodes libraries?!)
The Mark One: a classic electric piano with a warm and intimate tone perfect for a rainy day. Choose from seven different perspectives ranging from clean line to analogue chorus and tube amplifier with several microphone setups — close-up mono to ambient stereo. Go from a tight crunchy amp sound to a soft and shimmery stereo sound in an instance.

Only for the "sample library" section of the boards which are limited to samples that have only one velocity layer. The "piano library" section (although also samples) is in a proprietary format available only to factory-supplied sounds.

Total memory available for all pianos and EPs = 500 mb in the Stage 2 and Nord Piano 2, 185 mb in the Electro 3 and 4.

Total memory available for all non-piano (single velocity) sampled sounds (both factory and user supplied) = 380 mb in the Stage 2, 128 mb in the Nord PIano 2, 68 mb in the Electro 3 and 4.

Following the initial "wow!" following owning all the old gear, the Nord is sounding more like a "keyboard" every time I use it.

What next, a Nord double bass?
