Best home speaker for Nord Stage 2
Hi all
I just watched this video and was impressed at how nice the sound on the video was.
I am currently playing my Nord Stage 2 out of an acoustic guitar amp which doesn't do justice to the sound. I'm torn between getting a larger speaker which could be used for gigs and a smaller one which just takes up less space in general.
What do you guys use for getting the best sound out of your Nord Stage 2?

Re: Best home speaker for Nord Stage 2
Hi,
I use only studio nearfield monitors at home - Adam P11A. Not only for making music but also for listening. I really love them.
The nordstage sounds fantastic with these ones.
However, the problem is, when I go on stage or rehearsal, I only have old 15/3 EV fullrange speakers and little Behringer active monitors (B205D) - it works well, but it sounds really not as good as home. So I allways have to edit my sounds which I created at home.
cheers,
Bernard

Hi,
Try the YAMAHA HS80 or HS50. They are powered bi-amped nearfield monitors and sound excellent. i am looking to purchase the former at £280 (pair) new.

So you're impressed at the sound from your own speakers?zarquon wrote:I just watched this video and was impressed at how nice the sound on the video was.

Seriously though, I just use my living room stereo, and the sound is much better than at band rehearsals. I just added two small speakers from a 2.1 system to create the illusion of sound coming from the front, and adjusted the amplifier eq to counter the missing bass.
Two things to consider: Before trying to make the Nord Stage sound good, make sure that recorded music does sound good, especially at the same volume level. And, to get a feeling for the "intended" sound, play the Stage (and possibly the same recorded music) through good headphones, and compare your sound system with that.

I personally have all my things going to a Macike VLZ-3 8-channel mixer (that is keyboards, computer and other stuff go through it) then to a pair of Event Alp 5´s. They are about 5 years old, but they have served me excellently. Almost no coloration or hiss.

how to connect iPad with NS2?
Dear all, I recently bought a Nord stage 2 and now I want to connect it with the I pad and use the iPad as additional keyboard. So, I concocted the iPad via th eUSB and camera connection kit. It seems to recognize the iPad (the midi led light flahses) but thats all. What do I have to do?
The manual also says that you can plug in any mp3 and play along? HOW does this work???
thanks!!!!

Re: Best home speaker for Nord Stage 2
For the mp3 play along, it's a 3.5" jack Monitor in at the left of the board, it's only used if you don't have a mixer to plug it =)

Best home speaker for Nord Stage 2
I initially used my performance monitors two EV-112P's which gave a pretty nice sound but lacked the obvious accuracy of near field monitors.
So I recorded some raw acoustic piano samples of me playing the NS2 and took it to guitar center. I tried it thru various higher end brands including Adams KRK(VXT) and DynAudio.
I ended up purchasing two DynAudio Bm5 Mk2 monitors. They seemed to provide the clarity accuracy body and depth I have been looking for. Thy also have a 7in woofer which is pretty amazing. Paid a little over $1000US for them.

Re: Best home speaker for Nord Stage 2
I tell you something,
get a PA Unless you are looking for a true production studio solution.
These bugdget monitors youst do not delivery any true punch.
My room is 12m2 and I have bought a LD Systems Dave 8 LX.
That I can even reuse for a bigger party and karaoke or whatever.
The music it delivers ist simply amazing for the price - all I ever need here.
A monitor box (compared on price) will not come even close to what my lil Dave delivers.
good luck to you ...
